The Seattle Seahawks are moving on from the Pete Carroll era in more ways than one. The team announced on Tuesday that it is releasing Pro Bowl safeties, Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs. Tight end Will Dissly has also been cut.

After missing the playoffs last season, the Seahawks moved on from head coach Pete Carroll and brought in ex-Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald as his replacement. It appears that team president John Schneider and the rest of the front office are now set on reshaping the team’s roster as well.

Jamal Adams joined the Seahawks in 2020 in a trade that saw Seattle give up two first-round picks to the New York Jets. Adams had a stellar first season with the franchise, setting the sacks record for defensive back with 9.5 sacks. In the following three years, he struggled with injuries and missed 27 games combined, while his productivity took a significant dip when he was on the field.

By moving on from Adams, the Seahawks will save $7.3 million in cap space, although they will take on a $19.6 million dead money hit.

The Seahawks acquired Quandre Diggs in a trade with the Detroit Lions in 2019. This trade worked a lot better for Seattle, as Diggs made three straight Pro Bowls between 2020 and 2022 while also remaining productive last season when he had a career-high 95 tackles.

Still, Diggs will have to find a new team because the Seahawks will save $11 million in cap with his release.

Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams is set to miss the remainder of the current NFL season after incurring an injury to his quadriceps tendon, ESPN confirmed on Friday.

Adams’ injury came during Seattle’s 17-16 victory in their season opener against the Denver Broncos on Monday. He went down in pain during the second quarter after blitzing former teammate Russell Wilson.

Following the Seahawks’ narrow win, coach Pete Carroll revealed Jamal Adams’ injury to be a severe one during a postgame conference as well as on his weekly radio show on Seattle Sports 710 AM.

While 2021 was a disappointing campaign for the 26-year-old, the team held high hopes for 2022 being the year that the three-time Pro Bowl selection would mark his comeback. Prior to being carted off the field, the star safety made three tackles and defended a pass.

During his first three seasons of NFL with the New York Jets, Adams missed just two games. It was in 2020 that Adams’ injury struggles began, missing four games due to a groin injury and five games at the end of last season as a result of a torn shoulder labrum that required surgery.

After many contract disputes and arguments with the team, Jamal Adams finally got a trade confirmed, as he is set to go to the Seattle Seahawks. The New York Jets sent Adams and the team’s fourth-round pick in 2022, and will receive first-round draft picks in 2021 and 2022, along with a third-round pick in 2021 and safety Bradley McDougald.

The move came one month after Adams requested a trade, but in recent days things got more heated between the 24 year old safety and the Jets organization. He used social media to criticize the team, and attacked coach Adam Gase and owner Woody Johnson in interviews and on Twitter.

Adams was the Jets best defensive player the past few seasons, as he proved to be a team leader and made 2 Pro Bowls. In his first three years in the league, he has the most sacks (12) of any defensive back in that time period, and is tied for second in forced fumbles with 6.

Adams says he wants to pass the Bears’ Eddie Jackson ($14.6 million per year), as the league’s highest paid safety. Whether Seattle wants to give him an extension worth that much is yet to be determined, but there is no doubt that he will be a big upgrade to the 2019 Seahawks’ defense, one of Seattle’s worst defenses in the Pete Caroll era.

All-Pro safety Jamal Adams wants to leave New York Jets and in recent days, he made sure everyone knows it. However, Jets wants Adams to stay and they haven’t been shy to say it as well.

Jets’ head coach Adam Gates talked about Adams with reporters on Friday and made sure to reiterate that he wants the 24-year-old to stay in New York.

“Yes, I want Jamal on our teamת” said Gase.

Adams recently made a trade request as he is unsatisfied with the fact that Jets still haven’t given him a contract extension. But Gase still hopes for a positive outcome.

“This is a tough part of the business when one of your best players is working through things with our organization,” he added. “We have to figure out a way to get to a good place, which will get him back, in the right spot, and ready to go.”

Jets’ defensive coordinator Greg Williams also expressed his support for Adams in recent days. Williams told The Athletic that he thinks the player deserves a new deal and that he has “his back on that.”

Reportedly, Jamal Adams is asking to be the highest-paid safety in the league, which would top the four-year, $58 million deal that Chicago Bears gave Eddie Jackson. Some reports went so far to say that Adams is looking to be the Jets’ highest-paid player in the process as well.

On the other hand, Jets are reluctant to extend Adams right away as they have him under contract for three more years. He has one year left on his deal, while the team has a fifth-year option that they will most certainly use. They can also franchise tag him in 2022 for a reasonable number.

So far, the Jets have rejected all talks about trading Adams, and it is believed they are not interested in going along with the player’s wishes. Adams, on the other hand, is already offering his services to other NFL teams and has a list of seven franchises he would like to go including Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, and Seattle Seahawks.

Star safety Jamal Adams, whose tenure with the New York Jets has been a small ray of light in a tumultuous time for the franchise, appears to have officially had enough.

The former sixth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft has been a Pro Bowler for the past two seasons. While his team hasn’t found any success as a group since Adams was drafted, he has consistently ranked as one of the best safeties in the league.

In April, the Jets picked up the fifth-year option on Adams’ contract, stoking speculation that the Texas native and LSU alum would not be happy with this decision due to his desire to play for a contending team.

Adams, whose current deal runs through the end of the 2021 season, would be looking for a new contract and a new opportunity at a team where he would have a better chance of winning the Super Bowl and making the playoffs.

There has been speculation that Adams would welcome a move to the Dallas Cowboys, his hometown team. Reports have also stated that the safety would accept a move to several other contending teams, including the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers.

It still remains to be seen whether or not the Jets will comply with their safety’s request, but all signs point to Adams breaking camp this summer with a new team.

One of the biggest storylines of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline was Dallas Cowboys’ attempt to acquire New York Jets Pro Bowl safety Jamal Adams. The trade didn’t take place in the end, and it turns out that the reason why was Jets setting a high asking price.

Reportedly, the Cowboys were big on Adams and have made the strong push for the Texas native in the final hours of the deadline. The player himself was very keen to join the Super Bowl contenders as well, but it was the Jets that eventually killed the deal.

According to Dallas Morning News’ David Moore, Cowboys offered a first-round pick for Adams, but that wasn’t nearly enough. The sources close to the situation said that Jets were looking to get the first-round pick, two future second-round picks, and potentially something more.

The highest that Cowboys were willing to go, according to sources, was a first-round pick and sending a playmaker or some kind of a pick swap to New York.

Jamal Adams, who was Jets’ sixth overall pick in 2017, is considered one of the best young safeties in the game. After a strong rookie season, in which he earned PFWA All-Rookie Team honors, Adams had an even better sophomore year in which he earned Pro Bowl appearance and Second-team All-Pro honors.

Adams played all seven Jets’ games this season and has 39 tackles, one interception, and one defensive touchdown.

New York Jets’ secondary has been decimated with injuries in recent weeks, with both their top cornerback Trumaine Johnson and his replacement Kyron Brown dealing with hamstring issues. This is why their Pro Bowl safety Jamal Adams decided to volunteer and said he was open to switching positions in order to help the team.

“If they need me to go to corner, I’ll go to corner,” – said Adams via ESPN’s Rich Cimini. “I’m dead serious.”

While there is no doubt that Adams, regarded as one of the best safeties on the game, could fill the CB role if needed, there is a low chance of this actually happening. Jets also lack depth on safety position, and if Adams switched, they would just replace one problem with another.

Jets’ opted against bringing back the 2018’s starter Morris Claiborne in the offseason, instead signing Johnson to a five-year, $72.5 million contract. With him and Brown now out, presumably for a longer period, the team will have to rely on Darryl Roberts and Brian Poole to make an impact early in the season.

Also, Jets’ head coach Adam Gase hoes that there will be some players who will make the best out of the bad situation and emerge as contributors.

“This is a great opportunity for a lot of guys. Somebody has to step up and make a name for themselves.” – Gase told reporters.

Football’s annual gala of the stars pitted the American Football Conference and National Football Conference´s best in Orlando on Sunday.

The AFC, led by head coach Anthony Lynn of the Los Angeles Chargers, won by a resounding 26-7 final score against the NFC.

The players that fill out the rosters of the Pro Bowl teams are selected by a combination of fans, players, and coaches, who cast their votes as to who deserves to represent their respective conferences.

The AFC came out victorious in the 2019 edition of the game on the back of a strong defensive performance. The NFC, despite having a litany of offensive stars, were only able to score one touchdown all day.

Jamal Adams of the New York Jets was named the defensive MVP of the game after recording four tackles, one sack, and one interception.

Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs´ young phenom, was named the offensive MVP after throwing for 156 yards and 1 touchdown in limited action.

Mahomes, who is only 23 years old, became the youngest quarterback in the history of the National Football League to throw for over 5,000 yards in a season.

The AFC emerged victorious on Sunday based largely on his efforts and of the team´s stout defensive performance.
