]]>According to Kerr, Wiseman is making a good recovery from a sprained left wrist but still isn’t cleared for basketball activity.
“Unfortunately, he still has pain, so as long as there’s a pain in the wrist, we have to keep him back,” Kerr told reporters ahead of the Orlando Magic game. “So we have to just watch him over the next week and see how he does, and hopefully the pain will subside.”
Wiseman got hurt in a 118-91 win against the Detroit Pistons on January 30th, and the Warriors initially projected a swift return for last year’s No. 2 pick. But the injury turned out to be significantly harder to overcome and caused the 19-year-old rookie to miss six games so far.
Reportedly, Golden State will re-evaluate Wiseman again in seven to 10 days, which puts him on track to sit out three more games at least.
Without James Wiseman in their lineup, the Warriors have been forced to turn to a small-ball approach. This strategy was partially effective so far, as the team went 3-3 in the last six contests.
Wiseman played 20 games in his rookie season so far and averaged 12.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game.

]]>Wiseman is expected to be joined on the sidelines by Golden State All-Star Draymond Green.
“We’ve got to be very careful and smart given the layoff that we’re all coming off of and then the short amount of time as it is for training camp,” said Kerr.
He then confirmed that both players will certainly miss the game versus the Denver Nuggets on Saturday. “There’s no way I’d throw either guy into an NBA game right away. They got to build into that.”
While Kerr didn’t go into details about his reasons for these decisions, it is believed that the duo’s absence is due to them testing positive on COVID-19 last week. They are also the only Warriors players who haven’t practiced since training camp opened.
Draymond Green and James Wiseman being out at the moment shouldn’t derail the Golden State Warriors that much, but the franchise will probably look to get them at least to practices as soon as possible. Warriors are hoping to be competitive this year after their disastrous 2019-20 campaign—and whether or not they manage to do so will largely depend on their players being in sync.

]]>The post Warriors Star Klay Thompson Out for 2021 Season with Achilles Injury appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>According to the team, Thompson suffered an Achilles injury in his right knee while working out in Southern California and getting ready for the season.
The injury occurred on the same day that the Warriors drafted promising center James Wiseman with the No. 2 pick in the NBA draft. The team was optimistic that they would be able to be competitive again in 2021, with their superstar shooter Stephen Curry finally healed up from a broken hand that kept him out for a good part of the 2020 season, Thompson coming back, and a promising big man in place.
With Thompson no longer available, the team is going to have to figure out a way to replace him and might have to pick up several free agents to try and fill the hole that Thompson’s season-ending injury has created.
Thompson injured his left leg in the final game of the 2019 season, Game 6 of the NBA Finals in which the Warriors lost to the Toronto Raptors. With a healthy Thompson and Curry leading the offense, Golden State won back-to-back NBA titles in 2017-2018.
