In the first game of the 2020 World Series, Dodgers dominated Tampa Bay Rays and reached an 8-3 win. This was the organization’s most convincing World Series win since 1988 when they went and won the whole thing.

Dodgers were led by ace Clayton Kershaw, who bullied Rays’ batters throughout the entire contest. Kershaw retired 17 out of 18 final bats he faced while striking out eight. He finished the game with a 1.50 ERA, allowing one walk and just two hits in six innings.

“I think we are the best team, and I think our clubhouse believes that,” said Kershaw with confidence after the game.

All-Star Mookie Betts also gave his contribution, doing a little bit of everything to spark the Dodgers. This was especially the case in the fifth inning when Betts got a leadoff walk and two steals. He joined Babe Ruth as the only player in history to do this in a single inning in a World Series.

“He’s done just about everything,” said teammate Cody Bellinger off Betts’ efforts.

Betts has just one year left on his contract, which will pay him $27 million this year. Red Sox’s chances to sign him on the extension seemed unlikely, so the team decided to get some assets for him while his value was still high.
