The Los Angeles Rams quarterback is deepening his ties with the city of LA. On Friday, Stafford was unveiled as one of the new members of the NWSL side’s investment team.

The NFL star decided to bring his whole family into the business with his wife Kelly and the pair’s daughters also being listed as investors.

“We fell in love with attending an Angel City game last season and wanted our daughters to experience something so important and powerful first-hand,” said Matthew and Kelly Stafford in a joint statement.

Angel City already has a number of high-profile investors. Besides the initial group that consisted of actress Natalie Portman, tennis star Serena Williams, and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, the list also includes former NFL center Ryan Kalil, actress Gabrielle Union, WNBA star Candace Parker, and former U.S. international Mia Hamm.

Angel City played its inaugural season in NWSL in 2022. The team finished with an 8-5-9 record, missing out on playoffs. But despite the lackluster performances, Angel City was a huge draw for the soccer fans in LA. The team averaged 19,105 fans per home game, which led the NWSL and made them the first team to reach the mark since Portland Thorns.

The Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has no intention of retiring following his spinal cord contusion, the player confirmed on Tuesday.

Stafford addressed this widely-debated question during an interview on “The Morning After” podcast which is hosted by his wife, Kelly.

Rams head coach Sean McVay reaffirmed his belief that Stafford will make a full recovery, stating, “He’ll be good. To my knowledge, there’s nothing like that that’s going to be required or necessary. And it will be great for Matthew to have a healthy offseason and do a lot of the things that I think he’ll feel good about being able to do.”

The 34-year-old player injured his neck during the Rams’ Week 11 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Stafford was forced to leave the game early due to the medical staff’s concerns that he may have suffered a concussion.

Stafford confirmed that he felt numbness in his legs after taking the injury-inducing hit and entered concussion protocol. After clearing concussion protocol, he was placed on injured reserve on December 3.

Stafford injured his neck in Week 11’s loss to the New Orleans Saints. He felt numbness in his legs after taking a hit and had to leave the game after being evaluated for a concussion.

Following the game, Stafford entered concussion protocol for the second time in three weeks. Despite being cleared of concussion protocol, Stafford was still placed on injured reserve on December 3.

While Stafford is able to return from injured reserve in Week 17, McVay believes that there is a high chance that the quarterback will not play again this season. Quarterback Baker Mayfield is expected to start the four remaining games.

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has been placed on injured reserve after spending a period in concussion protocol. This decision means that Stafford will be unavailable to return to the field until Week 17.

Stafford injured his neck during the Rams’ Week 12 loss to the New Orleans Saints. He was forced to leave early in order to be evaluated for a concussion, with coach Sean McVay revealing that the player felt numbness in his left after taking the hit that led to his injury.

Two days after being cleared from concussion protocol, Stafford returned to action as he showed no signs of concussion symptoms. He entered concussion protocol on Tuesday, November 8, and was cleared that Friday.

Although initially cleared, the Rams’ medical team as well as McVay thought it would best for the player to go through a comprehensive recovery period so as not to aggravate any potential injuries.

“I know him. If there’s any inkling that he can play, this guy’s going to want to play,” McVay said of Stafford. “Now [there is a] possibility that we say, ‘Based on what we’re gathering, the doctors, those types of things, the smart thing is to not play you.’ And he could be upset with me, but I think he knows that I have his best interest and we have his best interest.”

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has been placed in concussion protocol, head coach Sean McVay confirmed on Wednesday.

The player entered concussion protocol on Tuesday after the team’s medical staff determined that it was what was best for him, McVay continued.

Although Stafford showed no concussion symptoms during the 13-16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, the Rams’ medical staff felt that this would be the best approach following Stafford’s response to some of their questions following the game.

“Whether or not that means he has a concussion or not isn’t for me to truly understand,” McVay commented, “But there’s the necessary steps that we need to take.”

Should Stafford not be cleared before the Rams’ game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, backup quarterback John Wolford is likely to fill in for him. McVay has expressed a lot of confidence in Wolford’s abilities, assuring that he is ready to step in for his injured teammate and that he has experience in this situation.

This season, Stafford has completed 68.4% of his passes for 1,928 yards, eight touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford has declared that he is fit to face the Buffalo Bills in the Los Angeles Rams’ NFL season opener, explaining that there are “no limitations” on his right elbow. Stafford, who suffered elbow pain throughout last season and received an injection, did not partake in throws during the Rams’ spring workouts.

“I’m ready to go. No limitations. … I feel great. I’m ready to go play. Can always be better. Can always try to feel like I’m 21 again. I’ll keep trying. But no, I feel really good. I feel like I can make every throw,” Stafford confidently explained. Rams head coach Sean McVay agreed with this sentiment, stating that the treatment plan that the team has in place to care for Stafford’s elbow is no different from last season. He did warn, however, that any quarterback’s arm is “always something that you want to be smart about.”

According to McVay, Stafford has been throwing the ball excellently in training, thereby proving his claims to be true. The Rams’ coach is confident that his quarterback will be able to make a strong comeback this season as he overcomes his pain.

The Los Angeles Rams decided to reward their quarterback Matthew Stafford with a new contract after the 34-year-old player led the franchise to a Super Bowl win last month. The team made the announcement over the weekend, revealing that Stafford inked a four-year extension.

While the Rams didn’t disclose the deal’s financial terms, the reports indicate that the agreement is worth around $160 million. In addition, Stafford, who had one year left on his previous contract, will get $135 million guaranteed.

The former first overall pick out of Georgia, Matthew Stafford spent his first 12 NFL seasons with the Detroit Lions. Stafford regularly put up big numbers during that run, but the Lions never managed to find success in the postseason. This prompted the two sides to agree to part ways ahead of the 2021 season mutually. The Rams jumped on the opportunity, sending their own ex-No. 1 pick Jarred Goff alongside two first-rounders and a third-round selection to Detroit in exchange for Stafford.

Stafford proved to be a great fit in Los Angeles, being in the MVP conversation in 2021 and finishing the regular season with 4,886 passing yards, 41 passing touchdowns, and 17 interceptions. He further stepped up in the postseason, completing 70.0 percent of his passes for 1,188 yards and nine TDs to help deliver the Rams their first Vince Lombardi trophy since 1999.

By singing Stafford to a new deal, the Rams ensure they have long-term stability at the most important position in the sport. The move also helps them from the financial standpoint, freeing up the cap space necessary to keep the core of the Super Bowl-winning team together.

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay certainly doesn’t regret upgrading from Jared Goff to Matthew Stafford at the quarterback position ahead of the 2021 NFL season. Since trading Goff to the Detroit Lions in exchange for Stafford, the Rams have been one of the best teams in football and look like a legit Super Bowl contender. However, McVay still would have wished he had handled the QB swap a bit differently on Goff’s end.

Speaking with reporters on Monday, McVay said he feels he could have done better to communicate the trade to Goff.

“Yes, I wish there was better, clearer communication,” McVay said via ESPN. “To say that it was perfectly handled on my end, I wouldn’t be totally accurate in that. I’ll never claim to be perfect, but I will try to learn from some things that I can do better, and I think that was one of them without a doubt.”

The Rams traded Goff to the Lions just two seasons after handing him a four-year extension worth $134 million. The 27-year-old signal-caller later said that he didn’t expect to be moved and revealed that the team didn’t talk with him during the offseason until they needed to tell him he was being traded.

Goff entered the league as the Rams’ first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He was named the team’s starting quarterback midway through his rookie year and went on to play 69 games for the franchise. He helped the Rams make the Super Bowl in 2018 and contributed to two more postseason trips.

“I think the L.A. fans and I think the Rams fans know what a great job he had done and how much, I think how much he meant to the Rams organization both as a football player and also the community,” McVay added.

Every since star quarterback Matthew Stafford got traded to the Los Angeles Rams, drama has surfaced regarding who he didn’t want to play for. According to a report, Stafford was interested in going to many teams except for one: the New England Patriots.

However, when Stafford was asked whether or not he told the Detroit Lions not to trade him to New England, his response was different than the story that was told.

In an interview with Detroit Free Press reporter Mitch Albom, Stafford recounted: “What’s accurate is—and this is an incredible thing by [the Lions]—I asked to go to a team that was ready to win a championship. And, you know, there were a few teams on that list. There were a few teams that were not on that list. And they were respectful of that and understood completely. I had thoughts and reasons for each one of them.”

However, the initial report, which was made initial by NBC Sports Boston reporter Tom E. Curran, sung a much different tune. As Curran wrote, “Stafford told the Lions they could send him anywhere but New England.”

Regardless of what actually happened, Stafford is now a member of the Los Angeles Rams. He’ll add veteran leadership to their quarterback slot.
