The reigning MLS champions LAFC continue to add talent to their already deep roster. The team announced on Friday that they had completed the transfer of Polish midfielder Mateusz Bogusz from Premier League side Leeds United.

Bogusz inked a four-year contract with the MLS side that includes a club option for the 2027 season. While LAFC didn’t disclose financial details of the move, the reports say that the transfer was worth $1 million.

“Mateusz is a talented young player with great ability who will provide another quality piece to our club,” LAFC general manager John Thorrington said in a statement. “He is a dynamic and exciting attacker who has the ability to help our group in our ambitions to win more trophies. I am excited to welcome Mateusz to Los Angeles.”

Mateusz Bogusz has been with Leeds United since 2019 and was once considered to be among their most talented players. However, he spent most of his time on loans with lower-tier Spanish clubs and only got to play three official games for Leeds.

LAFC already added several other players with experience in top European leagues this year. Among the arrivals were right-back Sergi Palencia, who joined from Saint-Etienne, and former German youth international Timothy Tillman, who came from Greuther Furth.

The Vancouver Whitecaps are close to making a major addition to their roster ahead of the 2021 season. According to multiple reports, the MLS club is in advanced negotiations with Sporting CP over defender Bruno Gaspar.

The deal would see Gaspar join the Whitecaps on a season-long loan with an option to make the transfer permanent for $1.75 million, according to SIC Noticias.

The two clubs have several minor details to iron out, and the move could become official by the end of the week.

Gaspar can play multiple positions on both sides of the defensive line, but his preferred role is right back. This means his arrival to the Whitecaps could result in some exits as the club already has longtime starter Jake Nerwinski and youngster Javain Brown on the position.

Bruno Gaspar joined Sporting in 2018, signing a five-year deal. He played 30 games in his first season with the Portuguese powerhouse but failed to carve a role for himself on the team. This prompted the club to send him on loan to Greek side Olympiacos in 2019-20.

The 27-year-old player, who plays for Angola on an international level, also spent time with Benfica, Vitoria Guimaraes, and Fiorentina.

On Monday, FC Cincinnati managed to pull off their biggest move of the offseason. The team announced that they have acquired forward Jurgen Locadia. The 26-year-old Dutchman arrives from Premier League side Brighton.

According to reports, Locadia, who signed as a Designated Player, will arrive in MLS on a loan deal until July while Cincinnati holds an option to make the move permanent afterward.

Locadia started the season with Brighton but played only two games before he was sent on loan to Bundesliga side 1899 Hoffenheim. He played 11 games in Germany and scored four goals.

FC Cincinnati made the move official via their social media.

“We are excited to bring in a proven forward in Jürgen to strengthen our attacking abilities,” said FC Cincinnati general manager Gerard Nijkamp in a statement. “He is a talented goalscorer in his prime, and we feel adding an impact player of his caliber will be a great addition to our club. We look forward to welcoming Jürgen to our club and city.”

Jurgen Locadia started his professional career with Dutch powerhouse PSV, where he scored 62 goals in 176 games between 2011 and 2018. In 2018, he joined Brighton in a transfer worth close to $20 million.

Locadia was a starter in his first season in England but failed to match his previous production. His struggles in front of the goal caused him to lose his place in the starting 11, and eventually led him to the club’s exit door. He scored six goals in 43 games with Brighton.

Montreal Impact isn’t wasting any time putting together a competitive roster for their new manager Thierry Henry. The team confirmed on Wednesday that they have acquired winger Romell Quioto from Houston Dynamo.

As part of the trade, Impact sent Argentinian defender Victor Cabrera and $100,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) to Houston. Dynamo will also be entitled to a portion of profit if Montreal sells Quioto in the future.

The trade has been officially confirmed on Impact’s social media.

“We are pleased to acquire this versatile player, who can play in every attacking position and who has proven in the past that he can be successful in this league,” said Montreal’s sporting director Olivier Renard. “We want to thank Victor for his five years of service with the club. We can only wish him the best for his next chapter.”

With Romell Quioto, Impact finally received a reliable option and a difference-maker at the wing position. Since arriving at the MLS in 2017, Quioto, who is Honduran international, played 76 games and scored 48 goals while dishing 17 assists.  He also helped Dynamo win US Open Cup in 2018.

Victor Cabrera spent almost his entire career with the Montreal Impact. He debuted for the club in 2014 and has since played 101 games in MLS including both the regular season and the playoffs. Cabrera’s biggest success with Impact is winning the Canadian Championship in 2019.

Mo Adams stint with the Chicago Fire has come to an end, but the 22-year-old defensive midfielder is staying in MLS. Fire confirmed on Wednesday that they had traded Adams to Atlanta United while receiving $100,000 General Allocation Money (GAM) as part of the deal.

Adams was playing his second season with the Fire, making 10 appearances in 2019 and providing one assist. However, he fell out of the rotation in the last eight matches, so the team decided to move him in order to facilitate other transactions.

“This transaction was made with a design for another one this window,” – said Fire president and general manager Nelson Rodrίguez. “We wish Mo good luck.”

Atlanta United, on the other hand, is acquiring a player with a big upside that adds badly needed depth to their midfield. Adams’ ability to play multiple positions could also prove valuable for the team, considering the fact that they just lost fullback Brek Shea to a season-ending injury.

“Mo is a talented young player with the ability to play multiple positions for us,” – said Atlanta VP and technical director Carlos Bocanegra in a statement. “We like his versatility, and his competitiveness will serve us well moving into the second half of the season.”

Mo Adams joined the Chicago Fire in 2018 when he was selected 10th overall in the MLS SuperDraft. Prior to that, Adams played college soccer at with Syracuse Orange and was a member of several clubs from England during his youth career.
