SSC Napoli reportedly has its sights set on two young Lille standouts, Victor Osimhen and Gabriel, to join the team this summer as it looks to upgrade heading into next season.

The two Lille standouts reportedly left France to travel to Napoli on Monday in order to begin contract negotiations with the Italian club.

Rumors have stated that if contract negotiations go forward, Lille has accepted a sum figure of $112 million for transfer of the two players, paying $77 million for Osimhen and $35 million for Gabriel.

Osimhen would be the crown jewel of the deal, a 21-year-old Nigeria international striker who scored 18 goals across all competitions for the Champions League side in the 2019-20 season.

Gabriel, a Brazilian center-back who is only 22 years old, established himself as an undisputed starter and a key piece for Lille this season, who finished fourth in the French top flight this year.

The two players would be expected to play a key role for Napoli’s push for Champions League football, a Serie A title, and a Europa League title in the 2019-20 season along with players such as Lorenzo Insigne and Kalidou Koulibaly.

If the Italian club can provide their two new young potential additions with a sufficiently attractive contract, it appears that they will be on their way to Napoli sooner rather than later.

Coppa Italia trophy is going to Naples this season after Napoli claimed 4-2 win on penalties against Juventus in the final match on Wednesday night.

During the first 90 minutes of the match, Napoli was the better side, but Juve’s veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon kept the reigning Seria A champions alive with several masterful saves. After the regular time finished scoreless, two times proceeded to determine the winner on penalties as there was no extra-time under the new rules.

Juve missed its first two penalty shots, as Alex Meret saved Paulo Dybala shot while Brazilian back Danilo sent the ball in the stands. Napoli made all four of their penalties and emerged victorious.

This was Napoli’s sixth Coppa Italia win and their first trophy since 2014. It was also the first trophy for Gennaro Gattuso in his managerial career.

“Whoever does this job must have respect for it,” Gattuso told Rai Sport after the game. “We are lucky. This is why I get angry; there must be passion, respect, seriousness. Then there is a God of football who rewards you when you work well.”

With this win, Napoli secured themselves a place in Europa League next season. They currently sit at the sixth place in Seria A and are unlikely to reach the UEFA Champions League spot, considering they have nine points less than fourth-placed Atalanta.

Juventus, on the other hand, sits at first place with 63 points, which is one point more than their closest follower Lazio.

Hirving Lozano’s time with Seria A side Napoli continues to be plagued with problems. According to ESPN, Lozano was asked to leave the team’s training session on Monday after reportedly showing a lack of effort.

Football Italia brought more details about the story, reporting that Lozano displayed an absence of concentration that caught the attention of Napoli’s manager Gennaro Gattuso. At one point, Gattuso decided to remove the 24-year-old winger from the training ground.

Napoli is currently preparing for Coppa Italia Finals match against Juventus, which is set to take place on Wednesday. They have previously beaten Inter 2-1 overall in semi-finals, with Lozano sitting on the bench in both games.

This latest turn of events means Hirving Lozano’s career with Napoli is in jeopardy. After an impressive couple of seasons with Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, Lozano joined Napoli last summer in a transfer worth $46.5 million. He became the club’s highest-paid signing in history, while also being the most expensive Mexican player ever.

Although Lozano was regularly featured in Napoli’s starting lineup at first, things changed when the club decided to sack Carlo Ancelotti. Taking over as Ancelotti’s replacement, Gattuso showed little faith in the Mexican winger and has kept him on the bench for the better part of his managerial stint.

Considering everything, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Napoli decides to cut their losses this summer, especially if Gattuso remains at the helm. A possible way out for Lozano includes reuniting with Ancelotti at Everton, as the Italian manager is known to be a huge fan of his game and was the one who insisted on bringing him to Seria A.
