]]>While Phillies president Dave Dombrowski had revealed to reporters last week that Harper would indeed require surgery to be performed on his elbow, the president was unable to confirm whether the procedure would be of the Tommy John variety or not. “We have no prognosis, really, until [the surgeon] goes into the elbow and takes a look at it,” Dombrowski said to the press.
After tearing his ACL in April, Harper was ruled out of action for the remainder of the season. He received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right elbow a month later and was later moved to a designated hitter role.
Currently, the Phillies believe that Harper will not be able to return to the field until the All-Star break, at which point he would assume the role of hitter. He may only be able to return to his right-field position by the end of the season.

]]>“The Eagles are still going to be allowed to play, although without crowds. The Phillies will continue to be allowed to play, although without crowds,” said managing director Brian Abernathy via Philadelphia Inquirer.
According to Abernathy, the city has been communicating with teams and told them about their expectations. The Eagles previously allowed their season-ticket holders to defer their tickets to 2021.
This decision shouldn’t affect other NFL teams, as the league previously said the fans’ attendance at the stadium would depend on local and state guidelines.
“Decisions on the number of fans at stadiums will be determined on a market-by-market basis,” said NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy.
NFL remains optimistic that the health situation will get better in the coming months and that the fans will be able to return to stadiums, although in a limited capacity. However, a number of teams started preparing for the worst and have followed Eagles’ example in deferring the season tickets for next year.

]]>Kapler joined Phillies in 2017, and manage to compile 161-163 record in the past two seasons. He became Philadelphia’s third manager in a row that was fired before he could get to the third season after Pete Mackanin and Ryne Sandberg.
Besides Kapler, several other members of the coaching staff, including pitching coach Chris Young and head athletic trainer Scott Sheridan will leave the organization as well.
“Several years ago, I promised our loyal fans that I would do everything in my power to bring a world championship team to our city,” – said Phillies’ owner John Middleton. “I will never waver from that commitment. … I have decided that some changes are necessary to achieve our ultimate objective. Consequently, we will replace our manager.”
According to ESPN, Philadelphia Phillies already reached out to a number of candidates for the vacant managerial position. Former Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter and former New York Yankees’ manager Joe Girardi already had talks with the team, while Joe Maddon, who was recently fired by Chicago Cubs, is also considered to be a strong candidate.
Gabe Kapler, on the other hand, may not have to wait too long to get another job. According to reports, Kapler might be on the shortlist to be the next manager of San Francisco Giants. He and Giants’ head of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi previously worked together with the LA Dodgers organization.
