]]>Kansas City, led by 24-year-old Patrick Mahomes, overcame a 10-point deficit to stun the San Francisco 49ers 31-20, making the Chiefs the first team in NFL history to win three games after trailing by 10 or more points in a single postseason.
Mahomes is now a Super Bowl MVP. He joins Ben Roethlisberger and Tom Brady as the only quarterbacks to hoist a Lombardi Trophy before their 25th birthday. “We kept believing,” Mahomes said. “That’s what we did all postseason. I felt like if we were down by 10, we weren’t playing our best football. The guys really stepped up. They believed in me. I was making a lot of mistakes out there early. We found a way to win it in the end.”
It was a huge win for Andy Reid as well, who coached 365 games without a Super Bowl victory!
“The guys were jumping on top of me, I got an ice bath and everything,” Reid said of the celebration that followed the game-clinching touchdown run by Damien Williams, putting Kansas City up by 11. “I didn’t have a lot of time to reflect on anything, other than try to keep guys off the field. We still had a minute and some left to go, so anything can happen. It was awesome. Just to be able to celebrate with guys that worked so hard just to get you to this spot. To get themselves and the team to this spot.”

]]>Coleman suffered the injury during the NFC Championship game against Green Bay Packers, being forced to exit the contest early in the second quarter. He had 21 yards rushing up to that point.
“We have got to wait until we get the stuff back, so I don’t want to speculate too much, but usually a week to rest it and usually gets back in,” said Shanahan. “I expect him to have a chance to play. Can’t hold me to that. We’ll find out more after the imaging, but expect him to have a good chance to play.”
Despite Coleman’s injury, 49ers managed to establish a strong running game against Packers thanks to Raheem Mostert and Matt Brieda. Mostert was especially efficient, finishing the match with 220 yards and four touchdowns.
Tevin Coleman and Mostert had the highest number of carries for San Francisco in the regular season, being tied at 137. Coleman averaged 4.0 yards per carry, rushing for a total of 544 yards and six TDs. He also added 21 receptions for 180 yards and one touchdown.
Coleman joined the 49ers in March, after previously spending four years with Atlanta Falcons. He signed a two-year, $10 million deal in March.
