It appears that a dislocated shoulder won’t be enough to stop San Francisco 49ers’ running back Tevin Coleman from making an appearance in Super Bowl LIV. 49ers’ head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Monday that he expects the 26-year-old back to play in the most important game of the season.

Coleman suffered the injury during the NFC Championship game against Green Bay Packers, being forced to exit the contest early in the second quarter. He had 21 yards rushing up to that point.

“We have got to wait until we get the stuff back, so I don’t want to speculate too much, but usually a week to rest it and usually gets back in,” said Shanahan. “I expect him to have a chance to play. Can’t hold me to that. We’ll find out more after the imaging, but expect him to have a good chance to play.”

Despite Coleman’s injury, 49ers managed to establish a strong running game against Packers thanks to Raheem Mostert and Matt Brieda. Mostert was especially efficient, finishing the match with 220 yards and four touchdowns.

Tevin Coleman and Mostert had the highest number of carries for San Francisco in the regular season, being tied at 137. Coleman averaged 4.0 yards per carry, rushing for a total of 544 yards and six TDs. He also added 21 receptions for 180 yards and one touchdown.

Coleman joined the 49ers in March, after previously spending four years with Atlanta Falcons. He signed a two-year, $10 million deal in March.
