Pro Bowl wide receiver Mike Evans isn’t going anywhere. Despite rumors surrounding his future with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Evans agreed to a new two-year deal with the franchise.

Evans was set to become a free agent this offseason after he and the Bucs failed to come to terms on an extension last year. There were reports that Evans is ready to test the free agency for the first time in his career, with a number of teams expecting to be in the mix for his services.

Now, Evans gets to continue his career with the Tampa Bay and possibly be “Buc for life.” His contract is reportedly worth $52 million and includes $35 million in guaranteed money.

Evans had one of his best years as a pro in 2023, playing in all 17 games and catching 79 passes for 1,255 yards and NFL-leading 13 touchdowns. He earned his fifth Pro Bowl nod and later added 11 catches for 195 yards and a touchdown in the playoffs.

With Evans set to return, the Buccaneers can now focus on other pressing needs. Probably the biggest focus now will be taking care of the quarterback position. Last year’s starter, Baker Mayfield, is set to hit the free agency, but there is strong interest from both sides to reunite for the 2024 campaign and beyond.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ veteran wideout Russell Gage is expected to miss the entire 2023 NLF season with a knee injury. Gage was hurt on Wednesday during the Bucs’ joint practice with the New York Jets.

Reportedly, Gage was backpedaling during a 7-on-7 drill when the injury happened. He needed to be carted off the field.

The Bucs’ head coach Todd Bowles confirmed that Gage is dealing with a “pretty serious” injury but didn’t want to go into details.

“I can tell by the way that he was sitting on the truck that it was probably something that happened pretty bad,” Bowles added. “Our hearts go out to him, and we’ll see how it goes.”

Injuries have been a recurring theme for Russell Gage since he joined the Bucs ahead of the 2022 season on a three-year, $30 million contract. He was limited to 13 games in his first season with the franchise due to a hamstring injury, making 51 catches for 426 receiving yards and five touchdowns. The LSU product then suffered a neck injury and a concussion in a Wild Card Round game against the Dallas Cowboys.

With Gage out, Tampa Bay will likely turn to second-year wideout Deven Thompkins and rookie Trey Palmer to step into the No. 3 role behind starters Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. They also have veteran David Moore on their roster.

Former Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Greg Gaines has agreed to a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, sources told ESPN on Saturday.

The move will assist the Bucs to revitalize its defensive lineup, particularly as it continues to rely on several aging players. Aside from Gaines, the Bucs have signed an additional five free agents in an effort to overhaul its defense ahead of the new season. The team has also lost Rakeem Nunez-Roches, who left to sign a free-agent deal with the New York Giants.

Gaines has appeared in 59 regular season games over the last four years, starting 25 games and making 10.5 sacks, 24 quarterback hits, and a fumble recovery. The 26-year-old notably recorded three tackles in Super Bowl LVI.

Upon arriving in Tampa, Gaines will reunite with former Washington teammates and Bucs first-round draft picks Vita Vea and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have their new quarterback. According to multiple reports, the Bucs have signed former first-overall pick Baker Mayfield to succeed retired Tom Brady under the center.

The Bucs are reportedly getting a good deal for their willingness to take a gamble on Mayfield. The Oklahoma product will ink a one-year contract that could include earnings up to $8.5 million. In reality, the deal comes with $4 million in signing bonus and base salary, while Mayfield needs to hit certain incentives to earn the remaining $4.5 million.

Considering that the Bucs fans were spoiled by watching Brady in the past three years, getting Mayfield probably doesn’t sound tempting. However, the reality is that Tampa didn’t have too many options considering their salary cap troubles. Also, they couldn’t rely on 2021 second-round draft pick Kyle Trask to get them throughout the 2023 season, considering how little they’ve seen out of him since he entered the league.

Baker Mayfield spent the first four years of his career with the Cleveland Browns and helped the franchise end its 18-season playoff drought in 2020. However, the Browns decided they were better off trading for Pro Bowler Deshaun Watson and ended up on from Mayfield ahead of the 2022 campaign.

Mayfield split the last season with the Carolina Panthers and the LA Rams. He had a combined record of 2-8 as a starter, throwing for 2,163 yards, 10 touchdowns, and eight picks.

The Seattle Seahawks quarterback coach Dave Canales is set to depart his role and join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as their new defensive coordinator, sources confirmed on Wednesday. This comes after he reportedly attended an interview for the position.

Canales has become the 10th candidate to interview for the defensive coordinator role. The Buccaneers began their search for a new defensive coordinator after the dismissal of Byron Leftwich on January 19.

Other candidates that Canales beat to the position include Cincinnati Bengals quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher, Detroit Lions assistant head coach Scottie Montgomery, Los Angeles Rams assistant head coach/tight ends coach Thomas Brown, and former Georgia Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken, who was hired by the Baltimore Ravens this past week.

Canales arrived at the Seahawks in 2010, before which he was an assistant strength coach at USC, a special teams/tight ends coach at El Camino College, and the offensive coordinator at Carson High in California. During his 13 years in Seattle, Canales wide receivers coach, passing game coordinator, and quarterbacks coach on two separate occasions.

Bucs coach Todd Bowles confirmed that the Tampa Bay Buccanneers would be without three starting players when they host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

Pro Bowl defensive back Antoine Winfield Jr. remains on the sidelines as he looks to recover from a concussion suffered in Week 7 during the 21-3 loss at the hand of the Carolina Panthers. Winfield Jr. returned to practice this week in a limited capacity and is not yet back to full fitness.

Tight end Cam Brate is still recovering from a Week 6 neck sprain incurred during the narrow 18-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers; an injury that saw him stretchers off the field.

Joining them on the sidelines is starting left guard Luke Goedeke, who remains unavailable since suffering a Week 7-foot injury. In addition to the three injured starters, backup wide receiver Russell Gage continues his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury.

On the upside, the Bucs welcome back several key players from injury. Starting defensive lineman Akiem Hicks will be making his return after suffering a foot injury in Week 2 while top cornerback Carlton Davis III is participating fully in training after aggravating a hip injury in Week 6.

Winless since October 9, the Bucs will be looking to improve on their 3-5 start to the season on Saturday.

Tampa Bay Buccanneers quarterback Tom Brady insisted during an interview on Thursday that the ring finger on his throwing hand is fine after experiencing discomfort. Brady revealed on his “Let’s Go!” podcast that he injured his ring finger during the Buccanneers’ resounding 20-10 win over the New Orleans Saints last week.

While the veteran admitted that he downplayed the injury’s severity at first, he insisted that he is recovering well and stated “I feel great” when asked by reporters, going on to declare that “It’s football season.” Brady was not listed as one of the 12 players featured on Tampa Bay’s injury report for the week.

According to reporters who observed Brady in training, the player seemed to be experiencing discomfort during Thursday’s training session. Still, Brady explained that injuries such as this are part of the game.

“I banged it up pretty good, but it didn’t affect me at all in the game. Just going to be sore throughout the week. But one of those bumps and bruises that comes along with playing.” Brady confirmed that those players who are able to recover fast from injuries and get back on the field are the ones that come out on top, signaling his own determination to make a swift recovery.

After seeing their backup outside linebacker Cam Gill suffer a foot injury during a preseason game against the Miami Dolphins, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers decided to turn to a familiar face. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bucs are signing veteran Carl Nassib to a one-year deal.

Nassib already played for the Buccaneers in 2018 and 2019, appearing in 29 games. He had 12.5 sacks, 25 QB hits, 63 tackles, and three forced fumbles as a Buccaneer. He particularly thrived in his second season in Tampa, playing under defensive coordinator Todd Bowles. Now, Bowles will be his coach.

The Bucs probably see Nassib as a rotational outside linebacker who will compete for snaps with former fourth-round pick Anthony Nelson. The starting job is expected to go to Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, whom Tampa Bay selected in the first round of last year’s draft. Tryon-Shoyinka is coming off a 28 tackles and 4.0 sacks rookie campaign.

After leaving the Bucs following the 2019 season, Carl Nassib signed with the Las Vegas Raiders. In two years with the Raiders, the Penn State product had only 4.0 sacks but also didn’t play much, making just five starts. The 29-year-old player previously also played for the Cleveland Browns, who drafted him into the league with the 65th overall pick in 2016.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers added another major offensive weapon for their un-retired quarterback Tom Brady. The franchise officially confirmed the capture of legendary wideout Julio Jones, who arrives in Tampa on a one-year deal.

Jones spent 2021 with the Tennessee Titans, but only managed to play 10 games due to injuries. He had his statistically worst season as a pro, managing 31 catches for 434 yards and one touchdown. The Titans released him after the season ended.

Despite last year’s struggles, Jones had his pick of teams this summer and reportedly considered offers from various Super Bowl contenders, including the Green Bay Packers. But, in the end, the Bucs’ offer of warm weather and a chance to play with Brady was something the 33-year-old player couldn’t refuse.

Despite his past credentials, Jones will have to work hard to carve an impactful role on the Bucs’ offense. The team’s wideout room is loaded and includes Pro Bowlers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, veteran Breshad Perriman, and pricey free agent acquisition Russell Gage.

Julio Jones played his best football during his 10 years with the Atlanta Falcons, who took him sixth overall in 2011. During that period, Jones made seven Pro Bowls, five All-Pro teams, and has led the NFL in receiving yards two times. He holds a number of NFL career records, including most receiving yards per game (91.9) and being the fastest to 13,000 career receiving yards (137 games).

It appears that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have stopped hoping that Rob Gronkowski will change his mind on retirement. According to multiple sources, the Bucs have dipped in the free market to boost their tight ends corps by signing veteran Kyle Rudolph.

Rudolph will reportedly join Tampa Bay on a 1-year deal. The 32-year-old player spent the last year with the New York Giants, playing 16 games in which he had 26 catches for 257 yards and a touchdown.

After quarterback Tom Brady decided to return for the 2022 season after a brief retirement, the Bucs hoped his great friend Gronk would follow. But Gronkowski reiterated his decision to stay away from football several times since then, forcing Tampa to start looking elsewhere.

Rudolph immediately becomes the first choice for the Bucs at the TE position, considering the lack of experience further down the depth chart. Codey McElroy is the only other TE on the roster that played in the NFL, and even he only has one catch as a pro. The other options are rookies Cade Otton and Ko Kieft.

Kyle Rudolph played his best football in the uniform of the Minnesota Vikings. In 10 seasons as a Viking, Rudolph 4,488 yards and 48 TDs. He also has two Pro Bowl nods.
