Pro Bowl wide receiver Mike Evans isn’t going anywhere. Despite rumors surrounding his future with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Evans agreed to a new two-year deal with the franchise.

Evans was set to become a free agent this offseason after he and the Bucs failed to come to terms on an extension last year. There were reports that Evans is ready to test the free agency for the first time in his career, with a number of teams expecting to be in the mix for his services.

Now, Evans gets to continue his career with the Tampa Bay and possibly be “Buc for life.” His contract is reportedly worth $52 million and includes $35 million in guaranteed money.

Evans had one of his best years as a pro in 2023, playing in all 17 games and catching 79 passes for 1,255 yards and NFL-leading 13 touchdowns. He earned his fifth Pro Bowl nod and later added 11 catches for 195 yards and a touchdown in the playoffs.

With Evans set to return, the Buccaneers can now focus on other pressing needs. Probably the biggest focus now will be taking care of the quarterback position. Last year’s starter, Baker Mayfield, is set to hit the free agency, but there is strong interest from both sides to reunite for the 2024 campaign and beyond.
