Vince Carter, one of the biggest superstars in the NBA over the past two decades, has decided to call it quits after the 2019-20 season.

Carter has decided to sign a one-year deal with the Atlanta Hawks, the team with which he spent the 2018-19 season, and then retire after the conclusion of the upcoming NBA season.

His final season will be Carter’s 22nd in the National Basketball Association, which will break a record for the most ever seasons played by a player in a career. His twenty-second season will break the mark of 21 currently held by Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Garnett, Robert Parrish, and Kevin Willis.

Carter, who will turn 43-years-old in January, is expected to serve in a leadership and mentorship role for the Eastern Conference squad and feature as a bench player for the young and hungry Hawks.

The Florida native has made 8 All-Star teams in a decorated career that has seen him play for 8 NBA franchises. Widely considered to be the greatest slam dunk artist of all-time, Carter’s transitioned from a superstar small forward to a valuable bench player nearer to the end of his career.

The Hawks will hope to put a fitting ribbon on Carter’s storied career with an improved 2019-20 campaign.

We witnessed one pretty nasty injury back on Saturday night when Golden State Warriors guard Patrick McCaw had to be carried out of the court after a painful landing on the ground.

At first, most of the people pointed towards Vince Carter, stating that he is the man to be blamed for such an outcome. Sacramento Kings small forward was near McCaw when he jumped and he diverted his path, which made young guard lose his balance. Immediately, the 41-year-old started feeling sorry for what he did and at one point his eyes were full of tears.

After the game, a huge debate started spreading over the internet and the media, about Carter. One side is claiming that he is a dirty player and that he wanted to hurt younger colleague.

But among others, who are defending one of the best dunkers in NBA history are Golden State Warriors superstars, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green.

“I know Vince’s spirit and his heart. I don’t believe it was intentional at all. It looked like he was just caught in the middle of the play and wanted to move out of the way, but Pat was coming so fast.” , Durant stated for the ESPN. ” It was just an unfortunate play. Nobody in our locker room thinks Vince did that on purpose.”

Our sports desk wishes a fast recovery to Patrick McCaw who needs to rest in order to heal his concussion.
