Aston Villa’s attacking midfielder Jack Grealish has been the subject of several transfer rumors this summer, with high-profile clubs like Manchester United being interested in his services. However, it appears that Grealish is staying put for years to come as he signed a new deal with Villa.

The extension Grealish inked on Tuesday will keep him with the club through 2025.

“I am delighted to make this commitment to Villa. It is my club, my home, and I am very happy here,” said Grealish, who also captains the club. “The owners have made it very clear to me how ambitious they are and how they want to build Aston Villa.  There are exciting times ahead, and I am very glad to be part of it.”

Thanks to his stellar performances with Villa in the past couple of seasons, Jack Grealish emerged on Man Utd’s radar, and Premier League giants reportedly had a strong interest in acquiring him. However, Villa slapped a price tag of around $100 million on the 25-year-old, causing United to consider other targets.

Grealish, who spent his entire career with Aston Villa, was an integral piece in the club’s success during the 2019/20 season as they narrowly avoided relegation. He contributed with eight goals and six assists in Premier League while adding a couple of goals in cup competitions.

This also brought Grealish a call-up for England’s national team for recent UEFA League of Nations games, where he made his debut against Denmark.
