]]>The 39-year-old recently took part in Ireland’s first-ever test match against Pakistan. Though they were beaten, they produced a solid and competitive display.
He went on to score 4 during the first innings and produced a solid 43 of 98 balls during the second.
The highlight of his international career for Ireland was perhaps when he scored 231 against the United Arab Emirates in 2015.
Following his retirement, Joyce will now be part of the Irish coaching staff. His experience will be very important in terms of helping the country to grow in terms of the quality of cricket that they produce going forward.
“I feel now is the right time to stop playing and get started on a new chapter,” Joyce told Cricket Ireland. “The recent Test match against Pakistan was such an incredible few days and was the perfect game for me to say was my last in professional cricket. I’d batted twice in a day not many times in my career, especially not in that kind of pressure, in a home Test match with a lot of eyes on you worldwide to see how you’re going to go. There were a lot of people saying we could get bowled out again for 130. We managed to fight through to the end of play that day with a bit of luck and I was proud that we showed a bit of fight at the end of the third day. That’s all that Graham Ford asked of us was to show a lot of fight and we also showed a lot of skill.”

]]>The standard of cricket played by the Bangladeshi cricket team has improved significantly compared to what it was 10-years-ago. However, they are still a long way away from winning a major international trophy.
Bangladesh is currently without a coach after parting ways with Sri Lankan Chandika Hathurusingha in October. They have appointed Kirsten as a consultant in order to help them find a coach before their tour of the West Indies which will take place in July and August.
“I know Chandika did a great job with the team. I just want to understand what that was about and what made the team do well in that time,” said Kirsten. “Hopefully, in a couple of weeks, I will have someone in place to take the team forward.”
Kirsten is a South African cricket legend and also coached India to their World Cup success in 2011.

]]>The post Joe Root is ready to bat at number three for England appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>Root replaced Alastair Cook as captain of England last year and had to focus on his leadership duties as well as being arguably the best batsman within the side.
Coach Trevor Bayliss would like to use Root at number three and as a result of the team dropping James Vince for the series against Pakistan means that this will happen.
“I think it’s an opportunity for me to take on a bit more responsibility at the top of the order,” Root said. “I’ve had a year in the captaincy now and I feel I’ve gained enough experience to feel comfortable doing that. For me, it was getting used to the captaincy and making sure I could separate the two; that my full focus was on my batting when it came around.”
