The post Seahawks Draft QB Jalen Milroe, Trade Sam Howell to Vikings appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>Milroe was viewed as a potential first-round pick early in his college career but his draft stock plummeted after he struggled in 2024. He was 9–4 as a starter last season while throwing for 2,844 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 11 picks. Despite the struggles, teams looking for a developmental quarterback like the Seahawks were intrigued by his high ceiling.
With Milroe on board, the Seahawks had a crowded quarterback room on their hands. He was the fifth signal-caller on their hands, which prompted the franchise to put Howell on the trading block.
The Vikings, looking for a backup to presumed starter J.J. McCarthy, jumped on the opportunity and traded a No. 142 in exchange for Howell and No. 172.
Howell has 20 games, including 18 starts, since entering the league in 2022 as a fifth-round pick. He completed 62.6 percent of his passes while throwing for 4,139 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions.
The Seahawks started the offseason by trading their starting quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders. They went on to sign Sam Darnold to a 3-year, $100.5 million contract to fill the position. Curiously, Darnold was the starter for the Vikings last season.
Aside from Darnold and Milroe, the Seahawks also have last year’s backup Drew Lock, and Jaren Hall, another former Vikings quarterback, on their roster.

]]>The post Dolphins Want to Trade Star CB Jalen Ramsey appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>Grier confirmed that the decision wasn’t a result of Ramsey’s trade request or contract dispute. However, he stopped short of explaining why the two sides are set to part ways.
“I will say these decisions aren’t done quickly and they’re not taken lightly because we spent a lot of time this offseason working through this, talking through things,” Grier told reporters during a press conference earlier this week. “ … So we went through the process and just felt that after numerous conversations and then talking last week with Jalen and his agent, that it was best to move forward and it was in the best interests of the Miami Dolphins and for Jalen Ramsey.”
The Dolphins would likely want to complete the trade ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, where they could target his replacement with acquired draft compensation or the No. 13 overall selection they already own. The rest of their cornerback room is thin and consists mainly of unproven players like former undrafted free agent pickup Kader Kohou and 2023’s second-round pick Cam Smith, who only played six games last season due to an injury.
Ramsey is expected to have a lot of interest considering his resume. However, it is unclear how much the Dolphins would get for him, considering his declining form and large contract. He played in 17 games last season, getting two interceptions, 11 passes defended, and 60 tackles.

]]>The post Saints QB Derek Carr Suffers Shoulder Injury, 2025 Season in Jeopardy appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Carr is currently weighing several options on how to deal with the injury, with surgery being a strong possibility.
Carr’s future with the Saints was already murky after a challenging campaign in which he missed seven games. There were rumors about the two sides parting ways in the offseason, but the franchise instead decided to lock him up for at least one more year by restructuring his contract. He went 5-5 in 2024, throwing for 2,145 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions.
The Saints will enter the 2025 season with a new head coach in former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Without Carr, Moore is facing an even tougher task to turn around the franchise after several down years.
New Orleans also has Spencer Rattler, Ben DiNucci, and Jake Haener as options at quarterback but neither of them has significant experience. Rattler started six games as a pro, all of which came in 2024, and threw for 1,317 yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions. DiNucci and Haener each started one game in the NFL.
There is a possibility that the Saints draft a quarterback in the upcoming draft, where they hold the No. 9 pick. Another option would be signing a free-agent veteran like Carson Wentz.

]]>The post Falcons’ Legendary WR Julio Jones Announces His Retirement From the NFL appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>Jones, who last played in the NFL in 2023, shared the news via video shared on the Squad app.
“It was an amazing ride,” Jones said in the video. “I’m making this announcement today because of the city of Atlanta. Thank you, man, I appreciate y’all. It’s nothing but love.”
The Falcons selected Jones with the sixth overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. He would go on to play 10 years in Atlanta, becoming a franchise legend and one of the game’s best wideouts at his peak. Jones earned seven Pro Bowl selections and received five All-Pro honors while leading the league in receiving yards twice over that span.
After an injury-plagued season in 2020, the Falcons traded Jones to the Tennessee Titans. He spent one season in Tennessee before embarking on stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jones retires as the Falcons’ all-time leader in catches with 848 and receiving yards with 12,896. He also has the second-most touchdowns (60) in franchise history.
Overall, Jones will end his career with 914 receptions for 13,703 receiving yards and 66 touchdowns. His three career games with 250+ receiving yards are the most in NFL history, while he’s also the only wideout with five consecutive seasons in which he had 1,400 receiving yards or more.

]]>The post Bengals Lock WR Duo Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to New Contracts appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>Chase inked a four-year, $161 million extension that made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in league history. His $40.25 million annually surpassed the $40 million per year that the Cleveland Browns gave Myles Garrett earlier in the offseason.
Meanwhile, Higgins, who was previously franchise tagged for the second consecutive season, received a four-year, $115 million contract.
The Bengals were highly motivated to sort out the deals for Chase and Higgins in order to keep their quarterback Joe Burrow happy. Burrow previously indicated that he wants both of his top targets in the building for the foreseeable future and even expressed willingness to “take less” in order to make that happen.
Chase established himself as one of the best wide receivers in the league since being taken fifth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. He is coming off his best season as a pro, leading the league in catches (127), receiving yards (1,708), and receiving touchdowns (17).
Meanwhile, Higgins has a reputation for being a reliable No. 2 option who would easily be a leading wideout on another team. Injuries limited him to 12 games in 2024 but he still managed to get 73 catches, 911 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns.

]]>The post Aaron Rodgers is Reportedly “Hoping” to Sign With the Vikings appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>According to a joint report by Michael Silver, Dianna Russini, and Alec Lewis of The Athletic, Rodgers is “hoping to sign with the Vikings.” However, it will be up to Minnesota’s head coach Kevin O’Connell whether the move materializes.
The Vikings believe that they could be a contender with Rodgers under center in 2025 but are hesitant to pull the trigger due to the presence of second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy. The front office and coaching staff fear that adding Rodgers might hamper McCarthy’s growth and be perceived as a lack of faith in the 10th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
McCarthy was impressive in the preseason and was reportedly in play to be the team’s Week 1 starter as a rookie before suffering a season-ending injury. The Vikings then turned to Sam Darnold and went 14-3 before being eliminated by the Los Angeles Rams in the first round of the playoffs.
Rodgers endured a rough season with the New York Jets, going 5-13 while throwing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. After the Jets decided to move on from him, Rodgers was believed to be short on options, but now several teams see him as their potential starting quarterback in 2025.
Rodgers would have a clear path to start for the Giants and Steelers, as these teams don’t have viable options at the quarterback position at the moment. However, the Vikings would give him a better shot at finishing his career at a high level considering their stacked roster.

]]>The post Buffalo Bills and QB Josh Allen Agree to 6-Year, $330 Million Contract appeared first on yoursportspot.com.
]]>Reportedly, Allen signed a six-year, $330 million contract that comes with $250 million in guaranteed money. This is the largest guarantee ever given to an NFL player, topping the $230 million that the Cleveland Browns gave to QB Deshaun Watson in 2022.
Allen’s average annual salary of $55 million is tied for the second highest in the NFL, with Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals), Trevor Lawrence (Jacksonville Jaguars), and Jordan Love (Green Bay Packers) earning the same figure on a yearly basis. Dallas Cowboys’ Dak Prescott is at the top of the list with an average annual salary of $60 million.
The Bills confirmed Allen’s extension but didn’t disclose financial terms.
Josh Allen earned NFL MVP honors in 2024 after throwing for 3,731 yards and 28 touchdowns while adding 531 yards on the ground and 12 rushing TDs. This made him the first player in NFL history with 25 passing touchdowns and 10 rushing touchdowns.
Since entering the league as the No. 7 pick in 2018, Josh Allen compiled a 76-34 record as a starter. He earned three Pro Bowl nods and two Second-team All-Pro selections. His 260 combined touchdowns are the most in NFL history throughout the player’s first seven seasons as a pro.

]]>The move was widely expected as Lockett was set to count more than $30 million against the salary cap. The Seahawks will now save $17 million while carrying $13.9 million in dead cap for 2025.
Lockett also confirmed his departure from Seattle on social media.
“Although, my time on the Seahawks may have run its course I’m thankful for everything,” Lockett wrote on X (former Twitter).
The Seahawks drafted Tyler Lockett in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, and he quickly established himself as one of the team’s most dependable players. Lockett earned a Pro Bowl nod as a return specialist in his rookie year while also earning Second-team All-Pro in 2016 and 2017. One of his greatest traits was his availability, as he only missed one game as a pro.
However, Lockett’s production dipped in the past couple of years and caused him to slip down the depth chart in 2024 in favor of second-year wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba. He finished the campaign with 49 catches for 600 yards and two touchdowns.
Lockett previously said that he has every intention of playing in 2025 and there is no doubt that he will have a strong market among playoff contenders and teams looking for veteran leadership.

]]>Rodgers is set to become a free agent this offseason after spending two years with the New York Jets. Despite questions surrounding his desire to continue playing, he has been recently dropping hints about returning in 2025 if he finds the right fit.
After being limited to just four plays in 2023 due to an Achilles injury, Rodgers played all 17 games in 2024. However, he was far from his usual self, completing 63% of his passes and throwing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while the Jets went 5-12.
Due to his decline last year, Rodgers is considered a budget option for the Giants as he likely wouldn’t command a big contract. He can help them win now while also mentoring a young quarterback in case the franchise decides to take one with the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Giants pursued Matthew Stafford in recent weeks, but the veteran signal-caller opted to restructure his contract with the Los Angeles Rams instead of pushing for a trade. They reportedly also have their eyes on several other free-agent quarterbacks as an alternative to Rodgers including Sam Darnold and Russell Wilson.

]]>Neal last played in the 2023 season, when he started eight games with the Pittsburgh Steelers and recorded 50 tackles, two passes defended, and one interception. The Steelers released him during the 2024 offseason due to a failed physical and he remained unsigned since.
Neal made his retirement announcement through a post on Instagram.
“Today, I am retiring from the NFL,” Neal wrote in the caption before proceeding to thank the organizations he played for and his teammates, coaches, and family.
“All the lessons learned through the game has helped mold me into who I am today,” he added.
Keanu Neal entered the league as the Atlanta Falcons’ first-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. His best season as a pro came in sophomore year, when he earned his lone Pro Bowl nod after having 116 tackles, six passes defended, three forced fumbles, and one interception.
The following two seasons saw Neal deal with season-ending injuries. He tore his ACL in 2018 and Achilles in 2019, which limited him to four games during that period.
Neal bounced back in 2020 but the Falcons opted against re-signing him after his rookie contract expired. He would go on to play for the Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before landing in Pittsburgh as his last NFL stop.
