Chelsea’s new star striker Romelu Lukaku is showing positive signs ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa. The Blues were worried that their star striker might not be fit after struggling with some thigh issues during Belgium’s 3-0 win over the Czech Republic on Sunday.

“I’ll have a scan of my thigh first. I have been struggling with a minor issue for a while. Then I will return to Chelsea,” he told the Evening Standard.

But following a training session at Cobham, Chelsea coaches are relieved to see that the Belgian international is moving freely.

The official Chelsea website wrote that “Romelu Lukaku, Mateo Kovacic, Andreas Christensen, Reece James, and Edouard Mendy were among those Blues back at our Surrey training base following midweek action for their national teams.”

“The sight of Lukaku on the grass was particularly positive after the striker admitted following Belgium’s victory over Czech Republic that he had been struggling with a minor thigh issue. Our number nine showed no signs of discomfort as he joined in the penultimate session before we host Aston Villa on Saturday evening.”

The Minnesota Timberwolves’ star big man has just been sidelined with an unfortunate wrist injury to start the season. However, he is listed as week-by-week, so it’s not that big of a blow.

Thankfully he won’t need surgery, although his indefinite timetable to return isn’t exactly encouraging.

The injury took place during a game against the Utah Jazz. Towns had leaped up for a rebound, fighting for the ball with All-Star center Rudy Gobert—before landing hard on his wrist.

Despite the injury, Towns returned to the game and finished strong for a 116-111 win against the Jazz. He even added 16 points and 12 rebounds to boot. But after the game it was clear that he needed to be evaluated further.

“I couldn’t catch anything,” Towns told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “I was really there more just to be a distraction on the court. I just was there in case my team needed me.”

Towns is making sure to keep an optimistic mindset throughout it all: “I’m going to just stay positive,” he declared.

With a Western conference stacked with formidable teams, staying positive is exactly what the Timberwolves need if they want to make the playoffs.

The soccer season in Europe is slowly starting with the first matches in European leagues scheduled to begin this week. Soccer fans all over the world are waiting to see how the new and improved teams will perform and see the first points of the season. But, not all players will be out in the field right away.

Manchester City’s winger Leroy Sane has suffered a knee injury during the match between City and Liverpool. The 23-year-old Sane has torn an anterior cruciate ligament and now he will have to undergo surgical intervention in Spain in the next few days.

As Pep Guardiola has said, this is incredibly bad news for the club, as the young winger will certainly miss a great part of the football season. Guardiola said that he doesn’t know how long Sane may be out of the team and that normally this kind of injury takes players out of the field for six or seven years, hopefully until February or March.

The German player injured his knee just 13 minutes after he entered the field at Wembley. During the summer season, a possible transfer to Bayern Munich was reported but this outcome of events will keep the player in City.

While the New Orleans Pelicans were able to upset the Oklahoma City Thunder in a 131-122 win on Thursday night, the team suffered a scare after star forward Anthony Davis exited the game in the first half with a shoulder injury.

Davis, who requested a trade in the weeks leading up to the NBA Trade Deadline but was not dealt by New Orleans, injured his left shoulder while attempting to block a shot by OKC’s Nerlens Noel.

The Pelicans’ star man left the Smoothie King Center after suffering the injury with his agent Rich Paul to undergo tests on the extent of the shoulder injury.

Fortunately for Davis and for the Pelicans, it appears that the injury suffered by Davis was minor. The MRI showed only a contusion and no severe structural damage.

Davis plans to travel to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he will be a starter in Sunday’s NBA All Star Game, to receive treatment before Sunday’s matchup.

Davis had scored 14 points and four rebounds before exiting Thursday’s game.

The star power forward should not miss too much time with his injury even if he is unable to play in Sunday’s All Star Game.

The Pelicans still plan to trade Davis this offseason.

Tottenham Hotspur’s EPL and Champions League hopes were dashed after they received some tough news this week.

Striker Harry Kane, who leads Tottenham with 20 goals in all competitions, will he out until March after sustaining an ankle injury.

Kane suffered several a grade-two ankle ligament tear, which requires rest and rehabilitation.

The injury happened during Tottenham’s 1-0 loss to Manchester United this weekend. After getting tied up between Victor Lindelof and Phil Jones during a tackle attempt, the English striker fell to the ground in agony.

Kane is tied for the Premier League lead this season with Liverpool’s Mo Salah and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with 14 goals, will probably miss the team’s next two months of matches.

Tottenham and their coach Mauricio Pochettino now find themselves in a difficult position in 3rd place in the Premier League, 9 points behind Liverpool, and with a UEFA Champions League Round of 16 draw against Borussia Dortmund on the horizon.

If Spurs do not bring in another striker during this transfer window, Kane’s replacement during his time on the mend will be Fernando Llorente. The Spanish striker has scored 4 goals in 13 appearances for the North London side this season.

While the Los Angeles Lakers’ 127-101 Christmas Day win over the Golden State Warriors was a huge cause for celebration in Tinseltown, the Lakers got a dose of bad news after their big win.

Lakers point guard Rajon Rondo will miss all of January with a finger injury that he sustained in the third quarter of the Lakers’ win over Golden State.

This is the second significant hand injury that Rondo has suffered this season, as the former Kentucky Wildcat missed 17 games earlier in the season after breaking a metacarpal bone in his right hand.

Now, Rondo will have surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right ring finger that he sustained in a battle for the ball with Warriors forward Draymond Green.

Rondo has only appeared for the Lakers in 14 games this season, making two starts, but has contributed 9 points and 7 assists per game in limited playing time.

The Lakers are now feeling an injury crunch as 2019 begins, as Rondo joins injured forward LeBron James on the injury report. James was also hurt in the Los Angeles victory over Golden State, suffering a groin strain that is expected to keep him out of action for a couple of weeks.
