James Harden has arrived at the LA Clippers in a blockbuster trade from the Philadelphia 76ers. Harden, P.J. Tucker, and Filip Petrusev were all sent to Los Angeles while the 76ers will receive Marcus Morris, Robert Covington, Nic Batum, KJ Martin, a 2028 unprotected first-round pick, two second-round picks, a 2029 pick swap, and an additional first-round pick from the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The 10-time All-Star guard is set to play alongside Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, along with Russell Westbrook, who played with Harden at the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets.

Harden is “ecstatic” about his move, sources have claimed. He had been looking to depart Philadelphia since June when he opted in his $35.6 million player option for the 2023-24 season. This comes after he and 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey had a fallout.

The Los Angeles Clippers beat the Phoenix Suns 110-115 on Sunday night to take Game 1 of the first-round playoff series between the two teams. The Clippers’ superstar Kawhi Leonard stole the show by scoring 38 points to go with five rebounds and five assists.

The game against the Suns was Leonard’s first appearance in the NBA playoffs since he tore his ACL in Western Conference Semifinals in 2021. He played 42 minutes, going 13-24 from the floor while being his usual menace on the defensive side of the ball.

Speaking with reporters after the game, Clippers’ head coach Ty Lue said that Leonard would continue playing heavy minutes as the team looks to overcome the absence of All-Star forward Paul George.

“That’s what we’ve been saving up for, this moment here in the playoffs,” said Lue. “We have to play heavy minutes, especially with PG being out, being short-handed. He was great tonight.”

The Clippers also saw a big performance from veteran guard Russell Westbrook. While Westbrook struggled to shoot the ball, going 3-19, he helped the Clippers in other ways. The former NBA MVP played great defense, grabbed key offensive rebounds, and iced the game for the Clippers with a huge block on Devin Booker in the final minute of the fourth quarter.

Kevin Durant had a near triple-double for the Suns, scoring 27 points to go with nine rebounds and 11 assists. Booker and Torrey Craig had 26 points and 22 points, respectively.

The series stays in Phoenix, with the Clippers and the Suns set to face again in Game 2 on Tuesday night.

The Los Angeles Clippers managed to beat the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night despite not having two of their biggest stars, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, on the floor. The biggest reason for that was a vintage performance from veteran guard Russell Westbrook

Westbrook stepped up to the challenge and carried the Clippers to a 141-132 road win by scoring season-high 36 points and adding 10 assists and four rebounds.

The former NBA MVP also moved up on the NBA’s All-Time Scoring list by the end of the night, surpassing Philadelphia 76ers legend Allen Iverson in the process. Westbrook is now 27th on the list, needing 135 more points to jump over Hall of Famer Ray Allen.

Since joining the Clippers as a free agent after the trade deadline, Westbrook assumed a less prominent role and mostly served as a facilitator. However, when the team needed him to be the main guy with Leonard and George out, the 34-year-old player was ready to step up.

“My mindset never changes. My role may change, but my mindset doesn’t,” said Westbrook after the game.

The win against the Grizzlies was an important one for the Clippers, allowing them to remain in the hunt for the home-court advantage in the playoffs. The LA team is currently fifth in the West with a 41-36 record but only trails the Phoenix Suns at No. 4 by half a game.

“The first time he was able to get on the floor and play 5-on-5 and he looked pretty good,” Lue commented. “Still have a ways to go, but that was the first sign of positivity of him getting on the floor, playing 5-on-5.”

Most people like to say that the Los Angeles Clippers have two legitimate No. 1 options in superstars Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. However, George doesn’t see it that way.

Speaking with reporters after Sunday’s preseason game vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves, George went on the record to say that he considers himself to be the No. 2 option for the team behind Leonard.

“I think it just comes down to — listen, Kawhi is the No. 1. And I am totally fine with that. I think I try to complement him with being able to take the load off of him,” said George.

According to George, he won’t let ego get in the way of the two forming a successful partnership that will bring an NBA title to the franchise.

“Everybody says, ‘Kawhi [and] you are 1 and 1, [or] 1A, 1B.’ I’ll publicly say, I’m the 2. Kawhi’s the 1, I’m the 2. So that part we nipped in the bud,” he added.

Since teaming up in LA ahead of the 2019–20 NBA season, George and Leonard made two postseason trips and managed to reach the Conference Finals. However, there is a sense that they have left much to be desired. The duo struggled with injuries at various points, including Leonard missing the entire past season due to an ACL tear, making Clippers believe that they still haven’t seen the full potential of their wing duo.

The Los Angeles Clippers announced that Kahwi Leonard has been cleared to play after recovering from a torn right ACL that kept him out for the entirety of last season. Lawrence Frank, Clippers president of basketball operations, revealed that Leonard will feature in the Clippers’ training camp due to commence next Tuesday in Las Vegas.

Frank warned, however, that a cautious approach would need to be taken when integrating Leonard back into the team to avoid any injury aggravations.

“He feels great,” Frank confirmed, adding, “His plan is, look, he wants to participate in everything. And I think organizationally, we’re going to be cautious. So it will be a step-by-step approach.”

The Clippers will spend three days at UNLV for training next week, followed by a trip to Seattle where they are set to play two preseason games on September 30 and October 3.

According to Frank, it is unknown if Leonard will be fit to play in either or both of these games. He stated that the decision will ultimately be made by Leonard himself depending on how ready he feels to participate.

Los Angeles Clippers coach Ty Lue is confident that Kawhi Leonard is making good progress in his recovery from injury. The player participated in a 5-on-5 workout with the team since being sidelined after experiencing stiffness in his right knee a month ago.

“The first time he was able to get on the floor and play 5-on-5 and he looked pretty good,” Lue commented. “Still have a ways to go, but that was the first sign of positivity of him getting on the floor, playing 5-on-5.”

Leonard began experiencing discomfort in his surgically replaced right knee during a morning shootaround in Oklahoma City on October 25. The player underwent surgery after tearing his right ACL in Game 4 of the second round against the Utah Jazz on June 14, 2021; an injury that ruled him out for the entirety of last season.

According to Lue, there is currently no set timeframe for Leonard’s return to the court. While he has made significant strides in his rehabilitation. Leonard will not be included in the Clippers’ home game against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday.

The Brooklyn Nets and the Minnesota Timberwolves are the first two teams to secure their spot in the 2022 NBA Playoffs through the Play-In tournament. The Nets beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 108-115 to take the No. 7 seed in Eastern Conference, while Timberwolves got a 104-109 win over the LA Clippers to grab the seventh seed in Western Conference.

The Nets will now take on the Boston Celtics in the First round of playoffs while the Timberwolves face the Memphis Grizzlies.

Brooklyn’s win over the Cavs was highlighted by the performance of their All-Star duo, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. Irving stole the show with 34 points, 12 assists, and three rebounds, while Durant added 25 points, 11 assists, and five boards.

Cleveland’s best player on the night was guard Darius Garland, who matched Irving’s 34, while rookie Evan Mobley contributed with 19 points and seven rebounds.

Second-year player Anthony Edwards will take the most credit for Minnesota’s win with 30 points and five rebounds. Veteran guard D’Angelo Russell had 29 points, while the team’s biggest star Karl-Anthony Towns scored 11 points before fouling out in the fourth quarter.

Paul George had to do it all for the Clippers, scoring 34 points, grabbing seven rebounds, and dishing five assists.

The Cavs and the Clippers’ playoffs’ hopes are still alive despite the losses. The Cavaliers will play the winner of the Charlotte Hornets vs. Atlanta Hawks matchup for the eighth seed, while the LA team will face either San Antonio Spurs or New Orleans Pelicans to get the No. 8 in the West.
