The Los Angeles Clippers announced that Kahwi Leonard has been cleared to play after recovering from a torn right ACL that kept him out for the entirety of last season. Lawrence Frank, Clippers president of basketball operations, revealed that Leonard will feature in the Clippers’ training camp due to commence next Tuesday in Las Vegas.

Frank warned, however, that a cautious approach would need to be taken when integrating Leonard back into the team to avoid any injury aggravations.

“He feels great,” Frank confirmed, adding, “His plan is, look, he wants to participate in everything. And I think organizationally, we’re going to be cautious. So it will be a step-by-step approach.”

The Clippers will spend three days at UNLV for training next week, followed by a trip to Seattle where they are set to play two preseason games on September 30 and October 3.

According to Frank, it is unknown if Leonard will be fit to play in either or both of these games. He stated that the decision will ultimately be made by Leonard himself depending on how ready he feels to participate.
