Veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has a new team. The three-time Pro Bowler reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Beckham’s deal can max out at $8.25 million. He was reportedly offered more money by other teams but preferred the Dolphins because he believed they were a better fit.

After sitting out the entire 2022 campaign due to an ACL injury he suffered in Super Bowl LVI, Beckham signed with the Baltimore Ravens. He played 14 games in which he had 35 catches for 565 yards and three touchdowns while averaging career high in yards per catch (16.1).

Beckham previously also played with the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, and the Los Angeles Rams. He has 566 career receptions for 7,932 yards and 59 touchdowns.

Miami has superstar Tyreek Hill and standout Jaylen Waddle as their top receiving options, but the depth chart is less clear after that. Beckham is expected to be in contention for the No. 3 wideout role and should easily secure it if healthy. Dolphins’ wide receiver corps also includes return specialists Braxton Berrios and River Cracraft, 2022’s fourth-round pick Erik Ezukanma, and rookies Tahj Washington and Malik Washington.

The Miami Dolphins are set to release Pro Bowl cornerback Xavien Howard, the team’s longest-tenured player.

Reportedly, the Dolphins will designate Howard as a post-June 1 cut, allowing them to make significant salary cap savings. The veteran was set to have a $25.9 million cap hit in 2024, but now Miami will instead save $18.5 million. They will also incur an $11.5 million dead cap in each of the next two seasons.

The Dolphins drafted Howard in the second round of the 2016 NFL draft, and he has since established himself as one of the most productive corners in the league. He received a First-Team All-Pro selection in 2020, earned four Pro Bowl nods, and led the league in interceptions twice. His 29 interceptions since entering the league are behind only Denver Broncos’ Justin Simmons over the course of the past eight seasons.

Xavien Howard’s huge cap hit isn’t the only reason why the Dolphins are moving on from him. Howard’s production has been declining, as he only combined for two interceptions in the past two seasons. Additionally, Miami boosted its secondary last year by acquiring star corner Jalen Ramsay and drafting South Carolina’s cornerback Cam Smith in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Dolphins are expected to continue making roster moves to get financial flexibility. Shortly after Howard’s release was reported, the franchise announced it was releasing veteran linebacker Emmanuel Ogbah.

The Kansas City Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt stood by his team’s decision to trade Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins. This comes as the Chiefs and the Dolphins are set to face each other in Germany on Sunday, the first time that Hill will face his former side.

“I think that was a trade that worked out well for both parties,” Hunt commented. “Obviously, Tyreek is an incredible player and has done very well in his time with the Dolphins.”

Hill has proven to be an impactful player for the Dolphins, fitting in seamlessly with head coach Mike McDaniel’s offense since his arrival. The wide receiver set franchise records of 119 receptions and 1,710 yards for Miami in 2022. Having already surpassed 1,000 yards this season, Hill is on course to break the league’s single-season mark with the Dolphins sitting atop the AFC East and closing in on a playoff berth.

The Miami Dolphins delivered one of the most convincing offensive performances in NFL history on Sunday, putting up 70 points against the Denver Broncos.

The Dolphins’ 20-70 win saw them score the most points since 1966, when Washington had 72 against the New York Giants. They gained 726 yards from scrimmage, becoming only the second team to ever do it after 1951’s Rams. Miami is also the first team to score five passing touchdowns and five rushing touchdowns in a single game.

Dolphins’ quarterback Tua Tagovailoa completed 23-of-26 passes attempted while throwing for 309 yards and four touchdowns before exiting the game in the early fourth quarter. Rookie De’Von Achane rushed for 203 yards and two touchdowns while adding two receiving TDs.

Star wideout Tyreek Hill finished the game with nine receptions for 157 yards and a TD while running back Raheem Mostert combined for 142 yards and four touchdowns from scrimmage.

“That’s a lot of players executing a lot of things to a standard that’s unrelenting,” Dolphins’ coach Mike McDaniel said after the game. “When you have a lead — so many leads are vulnerable in this league. So we’d talked at length all offseason just about adversity, and sometimes adversity is having a two-score lead because you can let the atmosphere dictate your product.

The Dolphins also had a shot for the NFL record, finding themselves at Broncos 26-yard line with one minute left on the clock. However, instead of kicking what would be a record-breaking field goal, McDaniel instructed backup quarterback Mike White to take a knee.

“It felt like chasing points and chasing a record, that’s not what we came to the game to do,” McDaniel explained his decision.

The Los Angeles Rams have traded star cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the trade is expected to become official once the new league year starts on March 15.

The Dolphins are reportedly sending the No. 77 overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft and tight end Hunter Long to the Rams in exchange for Ramsay. Long is a former third-round pick who played 16 games in NFL and has one catch on his resume.

Ramsay himself already confirmed the trade in a series of social media posts, including a “love you & thank you” for the LA Rams and the LA Rams’ fans.

The Rams have been looking to move Ramsey for a while now despite the fact that he is considered one of the best cornerbacks in the league. They will get a badly needed salary cap relief with his contract off the books while also not having to pay the remainder of his five-year, $100 million contract.

The Dolphins happily agreed to be the team that pays Ramsey’s salary, guaranteeing the next two years of the contract as part of the trade. With the 28-year-old in the building, they now have one of the most intimidating secondaries in the game that also boosts another All-Pro cornerback in Xavien Howard.

The Los Angeles Rams landed Jalen Ramsey in a blockbuster trade from the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019 that saw them surrender two first-round picks and a fourth-rounder. The trade paid off big time for the Rams, as Ramsey was one of the key players in their Super Bowl-winning run in 2021.

The Miami Dolphins reportedly informed veteran corner Byron Jones that he is being released. The move was likely motivated by the Dolphins’ salary cap constraints, considering they were $17.7 million over the limit before making a move.

Jones was set to enter the fourth year of his five-year, $82 million contract. By designating him post-June 1 release, the Dolphins will get $13.6 million cap relief.

Jones didn’t play at all in 2022, recovering from Achilles surgery he underwent last offseason. Earlier this month, the 30-year-old posted a series of tweets in which he criticized the nature of the game and the resulting injuries. This caused speculations about his intentions to retire from football, although ESPN reports that the veteran still wants to continue playing in NFL.

By moving away from Jones, the Dolphins will most likely try to secure a corner through the draft or via free agency. They could also opt to give an extended look to second-year cornerback Kader Kohou and five-year veteran Keion Crossen, who stepped in for Jones in 2022.

Byron Jones was drafted into the league in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He spent five years in Dallas, earning a Pro Bowl nod and one All-Pro selection. In 2020, Miami made him the highest-paid corner in the league but failed to get much return on their investment. Jones played a total of 30 games with the Dolphins, contributing with 75 tackles, 15 passes defended, and two interceptions.

The Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Renaldo Hill is set to leave the team to join the Miami Dolphins. There, he will reunite with fellow defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Fangio confirmed Hill’s appointment on Monday, however, his role in the team remains unspecified.

“First and foremost, Renaldo’s a good coach,” Fangio stated during his public address. “Really, a talented coach with a bright future in the NFL. He worked with us for two years in Denver, so his familiarity with me and the system and what we do was important to me. But regardless of that, just his ability to be a great coach is what attracted me to him.”

Chargers head coach Brandon Staley allowed Hill to leave for the Dolphins out of respect for both Hill and Fangio. Staley served as an assistant under Fangio from 2017 until 2019, coaching at both the Chicago Bears and the Denver Broncos.

Prior to beginning his coaching career, Hill played 10 seasons in the NFL as a defensive back. Having played for the Dolphins from 2006 to 2008, Hill became Miami’s assistant defensive backs coach in 2018.

The Miami Dolphins have acquired the services of outside linebacker Bradley Chubb in a trade with the Denver Broncos. In exchange, the Dolphins sent the Broncos a package including a 2023 first-round pick.

In a separate deal, the Dolphins sent running back Chase Edmonds and a 2024 fourth-round pick to Denver in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round selection. The deal is pending both Chubb and Edmonds passing physical exams.

Following the deal with the Broncos, Miami set out to replace Edmonds by trading a 2023 fifth-round pick to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for running back Jeff Wilson. Upon arriving in Miami, the running back will be reunited with coach Mike McDaniel and fellow running back Raheem Mostert; Wilson’s former teammate at the 49ers.

To further strengthen their pass rush, the Dolphins also acquired defensive end Jacob Martin from the New York Jets along with a 2024 fifth-round pick in exchange for a 2024 fourth-round selection.

Chubb has 5.5 sacks – the joint-highest in his team – and is on course to achieving his first double-digit-sack season since his rookie year, when he racked up 12.

The Miami Dolphins offensive linesman Liam Eichenberg is set to spend some time on the sidelines after incurring an MCL injury, head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed on Monday. Currently, there is no set timetable for Eichenberg’s recovery.

The 24-year-old player was carted off the field by medical staff during his team’s 31-27 win over the Detroit Lions. He went down after experiencing pain in his knee and was immediately ruled out of the game with a knee injury. Although the injury has been diagnosed, Eichenberg revealed that the team is still evaluating his condition, adding that he is thankful that the issue is not more serious than it was.

Prior to incurring his injury, Eichenberg had started all eight games of Miami’s NFL games this season at his position of left guard. Since being selected as the team’s second-round pick in the 2021 draft, Eichenberg has become a regular starter for the Dolphins.

Robert Jones filled Eichenberg’s position for the remainder of the Pistons game. In addition to Eichenberg’s injury news, the Dolphins announced that they will activate right tackle Austin Jackson who has been on injured reserve since Week 2, however, he is not expected to play during the Dolphins’ Week 9 clash against the Chicago Bears.

The Miami Dolphins will be without their starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for Week 5 game against the New York Jets. With Tagovailoa still being out due to a concussion suffered in a 27-15 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, the Dolphins are forced to turn to veteran Teddy Bridgewater.

According to Miami’s head coach Mike McDaniel, Tagovailoa still hasn’t cleared the concussion protocol and won’t join the team for a trip to New York. However, McDaniel added that Alabama product is “diligently going through the process” and is getting better each day.

Tagovailoa got hurt after taking a hard sack in the second quarter of the Bengals’ game and hitting his head on the ground. He was sent to the hospital shortly after but ended up being discharged the same night.

The Dolphins, who started the season 3-1, are now hoping that Bridgewater can help them stay afloat before Tagovailoa returns. The 29-year-old looked solid coming for Tagovailoa in the Bengals game, throwing for 193 yards and one touchdown in two-quarters of action.

“I can’t be Tua, “said Bridgewater when asked how he feels about replacing Tagovailoa. “I had to learn a lesson when I was in New Orleans. I couldn’t be Drew Brees. So it’s like, as long as I continue to be myself, the guys realize, man, this guy isn’t fake.”
