The LA Clippers received some great news on Friday. According to head coach Ty Lue, the team had the “best case scenario” with star forward Paul George’s recent injury considering that the player won’t need surgery.

George injured his knee in a 101-100 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder earlier in the week and had to be carted off the floor. The Clippers feared he might be lost for the season, but tests showed that the 32-year-old avoided a major injury. The ligaments were intact, and he has been officially diagnosed with a knee sprain, which significantly increases his chances to play again in 2022-23.

The Clippers won’t have George for the remainder of the regular season but remain hopeful of getting him back for their playoff run.

“He’s a little disappointed, as expected,” said Lue of George. “But I think we got the best case scenario as far as what we thought it could be. And so, being reevaluated in two, three weeks is something that we are looking forward to.”

Playing their first game after George’s injury, the Clippers routed the OKC in a rematch game on Thursday night to claim a 127-105 win. The LA team saw several players step up to replace George’s production, including Russell Westbrook, who had 24 points. The Clippers are currently sitting as the fourth seed in the West with eight more games left to play.

LA Clippers coach Ty Lue confirmed that his team will be without key players Kawhi Leonard and Paul George for their home game against the Denver Nuggets on Friday. The pair were also absent from the Clippers’ 107-124 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night.

For George, the Warriors’ defeat was the second straight game that he missed out on since straining a right hamstring tendon. He picked up the injury during the first half of the Clippers’ 97-119 victory over the San Antonio Spurs last Saturday.

Leonard was injured during the Clippers’ 114-121 victory over the Utah Jazz on Monday. He rolled his ankle late in the fourth quarter after he attempted to block a shot and landed badly.

According to a report released by ESPN, both George and Leonard have been working out and the pair underwent treatment for their respective injuries in Los Angles on Wednesday. Leonard is expected to be reevaluated in the next few days.

The Clippers star Paul George was unable to participate in the second half of his team’s 97-119 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night, citing soreness in his right knee. Before coming off, George was a standout player for the Clippers, scoring 21 points including five three-pointers.

According to Clippers coach Ty Lue, George’s injury does not appear to be serious. George was spotted on the bench during the second half and tossed T-shirts into the crowd during a timeout.

“He’s doing OK,” Lue said of his injured star. “I haven’t seen what they [medical staff] said what happened to him, but I just know he had like a little tweak. But he says he is OK.”

During his first-half performance, George helped the Clippers race to a 64-48 lead. He made eight out of 12 shots and managed to convert five out of his eight three-point attempts.

While George deals with his injury setback, the Clippers will welcome the return of Kawhi Leonard, who returned to action on Thursday after missing 12 consecutive games due to stiffness in his surgically repaired right knee.

Most people like to say that the Los Angeles Clippers have two legitimate No. 1 options in superstars Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. However, George doesn’t see it that way.

Speaking with reporters after Sunday’s preseason game vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves, George went on the record to say that he considers himself to be the No. 2 option for the team behind Leonard.

“I think it just comes down to — listen, Kawhi is the No. 1. And I am totally fine with that. I think I try to complement him with being able to take the load off of him,” said George.

According to George, he won’t let ego get in the way of the two forming a successful partnership that will bring an NBA title to the franchise.

“Everybody says, ‘Kawhi [and] you are 1 and 1, [or] 1A, 1B.’ I’ll publicly say, I’m the 2. Kawhi’s the 1, I’m the 2. So that part we nipped in the bud,” he added.

Since teaming up in LA ahead of the 2019–20 NBA season, George and Leonard made two postseason trips and managed to reach the Conference Finals. However, there is a sense that they have left much to be desired. The duo struggled with injuries at various points, including Leonard missing the entire past season due to an ACL tear, making Clippers believe that they still haven’t seen the full potential of their wing duo.

After an emotional championship ring ceremony, the Los Angeles Lakers had their opening night spoiled by their crosstown rivals, the Los Angeles Clippers.

The defending champions, led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, fought a hard battle but clearly didn’t want the victory as badly as the Clippers did.

The Clippers came out of the gate strong, leading the Lakers at the end of the first quarter 39-19. But their massive lead wasn’t meant to last, with the Lakers clapping back with a dominant quarter of their own. At halftime, the score was neck in neck at 56-54.

Paul George led the Clippers’ second-half dominance, scoring 26 out of the 33 points he scored on the night. Superstar Kawhi Leonard chipped in with 26 points of his own.

The Lakers’ James and Davis chipped in 22 and 18 points, respectively, which isn’t great for their usual standards. However, one silver lining for the Lakers lay in the performance of their new acquisitions this summer. Montrezl Harrell, a former Clipper big man, put up 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Lake Show, while Dennis Schroder added 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists.

Nevertheless, these valiant efforts from the new Laker pickups weren’t enough to overcome the Clippers’ impressive first outing this season.

The final score was 116-109 in favor of the Clippers, which should give them a real confidence boost after their upset elimination in last season’s playoffs.

LA Clippers already made some big changes to address the disappointing 2019/20 campaign, including parting ways with longtime head coach Doc Rivers. But according to Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal, this won’t be enough.

Speaking on his The Big Podcast Shaq, O’Neal said that the Clippers also need to trade All-Star Paul George and make superstar Kawhi Leonard the undisputed focal point of the team.

“You gotta use [George] to get two good solid players because I need Kawhi to be the man,” said O’Neal.

O’Neal explained that Leonard now feels the need to defer to George, preventing the Clippers from getting the best of him.

“See Kawhi, I don’t want Kawhi to delegate… when Kawhi was with Toronto he knew he was the man, everybody knew he was the man.” – he added. “Now you got one guy that thinks he’s the man, one guy that is the man.”

The issue with O’Neal’s suggestion is that Kawhi Leonard was the one that asked the Clippers to get Paul George. If the organization decides to trade George, they risk angering Leonard and losing him in free agency next year.

Also, it is unclear whether George would fetch “two good solid players” at the moment. While he had an All-NBA campaign in 2018/19, the 30-year-old struggled this past season. He averaged 21.5 points in the regular season, his lowest since 2012, while seeing the number go further down in the playoffs.

The most likely outcome is that the Clippers bring back both George and Kawhi next season, hoping that they can rediscover their form under a new coach in Ty Lue.

The LA rivalry is as strong as ever, as both teams squared off in an intense, close battle. The battle of LA was not in LA, nor were there any fans in the Orlando Sports Complex, but fans could feel the intensity of the rivalry while watching from home.

After the Utah Jazz beat the New Orleans Pelicans to restart the wild 2020 NBA season, the LA Lakers took on the LA Clippers in Game 2. LeBron finished with 16 points, including the game winning shot, and added 11 rebounds and 7 assists against the Clipper’s superstar tandem of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

After George hit a 3 pointer under pressure to tie the game 101-101, LeBron missed a 16-foot jump shot, but managed to get his own rebound and put the go-ahead basket in with 12 seconds left. It was the first time in his two years with the Lakers that James scored a go-ahead basket with less than 15 seconds left.

The win was LeBron’s 837th and put him ahead of Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, as he now stands alone in 9th place all-time in regular-season wins. Even more important is that the NBA is back at high-level basketball. If this game was any indication of what’s to come, we may see these two LA teams face off in more important playoff games farther down the line.

Los Angeles Clippers looked so good at the start of the season that it was easy to forget they are missing one important piece in superstar forward Paul George.

George still hasn’t made his debut for the Clippers, recovering from offseason shoulder surgeries, but it seems like that moment is getting closer.

According to The Athletic‘s Sam Amick, George is scheduled to have his season debut next week. The 29-year-old All-Star will most likely play one of Clippers’ back-to-back games which include traveling to Houston Rockets and hosting New Orleans Clippers.

Paul George joined the Clippers in the offseason in a blockbuster trade from Oklahoma City Thunder, forming one of the league’s best duos with Kawhi Leonard. George is coming off an All-NBA season with OKC in which he had career highs across the board, averaging 28.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 2.2 steals per game.

George struggled with shoulder issues towards the end of the last season and decided to undergo procedures on both left and right shoulders in the offseason. The initial prognosis was that he will be out until November, so his return next week would mean the recovery went as expected.

In George’s absence, Leonard has been leading the Clippers, averaging 29.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.

Los Angeles Clippers’ fans will have to wait a bit more to see their newest star Paul George on court.

George revealed on Sunday that he is still rehabilitating from the shoulder surgeries he had in the offseason and that he will probably be out until November. The 29-year-old had a surgery on his right shoulder in May in order to repair a partially torn tendon and then underwent a minor procedure on his left shoulder in May.

“I will be out of the preseason,” – said George during the news conference. “As of now, I’ll be out of October fully, but who knows? We’ll see. In the November range is our target date.”

Although he won’t be ready for the start of the season, George doesn’t have concerns about his rehab and is pleased with the way things are unfolding so far.

“I’m where I want to be right now at this point in the season almost starting. I like where the progression is going.” – he told SportsCenter.

Paul George joined the Clippers during the offseason from Oklahoma City Thunder in a blockbuster trade that paired him up with Kawhi Leonard. George played 77 games in the regular season for Thunder during 2018/19 and averaged 28.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.2 steals per game.

The NBA announced the finalists for the 2018-19 MVP Award on Friday night. There were no surprises as the league announced that Giannis Antetokounmpo, James Harden, and Paul George will be the nominees for the latest edition of the award.

James Harden, the NBA MVP last season, makes the cut again after another torrid scoring performance this season. The bearded slasher led the league in scoring with 36.1 points per game to lead a potent Houston Rockets offense. He also chipped in 7.5 assists and 6.6 rebounds per game.

The favorite this year, however, might be Bucks phenom Giannis Antetokounmpo. The “Greek Freak” is currently leading Milwaukee to a deep playoff run after an excellent regular season in which he averaged 27.7 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game. He was insanely efficient on offense, shooting nearly 57% from the field.

Rounding out the field is Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George. He also had a strong 2018-19 campaign, scoring 28 points per game and leading the league with 2.2 steals per game.

The winner of the award will be announced on June 24, 2019 at the NBA Awards in Los Angeles. The event will be presented by NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.
