Liverpool defeated Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 to take home the crown as the winner of Europe’s premier international competition. Despite playing an underwhelming game, Liverpool did enough to score two goals and keep Tottenham from finding the net.

It was a strange game in which a penalty was whistled on Tottenham at only the 30-second mark in the first half. A ball hit Spurs defender Moussa Sissoko in the armpit area, and the referees awarded the Reds a controversial penalty after consulting VAR.

Mo Salah converted the shot just over a diving Hugo Lloris to give Liverpool an early 1-0 lead.

After a surprising 1-0 win at home, Tottenham looked to shock the soccer world by advancing past Pep Guardiola’s Man City side, one of the favorites to win the Champions League.

The 4-3 final of the game went Manchester City’s way, but Tottenham’s shutout of Man City at home gave them the away goal advantage that they needed to advance to the next round in a 4-4 aggregate.

The game was full of drama.
