The San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has entered concussion protocol, coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed on Wednesday afternoon. It is now uncertain whether or not the quarterback will feature against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

Purdy suffered his injury during the 49ers’ defeat to the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night, however, it is uncertain when exactly he was injured. “He started getting symptoms on the plane,” Shanahan explained. “We finally found that out when we landed. We were all pretty asleep, but then he got all checked up yesterday and now he’s in the protocol.”

While Purdy did not attempt many hits throughout the Vikings game, Shanahan suspects that the knock may have happened when the quarterback attempted a couple of sneaks during the fourth quarter.
