The San Francisco 49ers’ 37-15 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday came with a steep price. According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the 49ers’ starting corner Emmanuel Moseley tore his ACL in the game and will be out for the season.

Moseley got hurt late in the fourth quarter while trying to defend a pass in the open field. He had a great game up to that point, recording an interception and returning it 41 yards for a touchdown.

Emmanuel Moseley signed with San Francisco as an undrafted free agent in 2018 and has since been a valuable contributor to the team. He has been a starter since his sophomore season and has 161 tackles, 33 passes defended, and four interceptions since then. The 26-year-old player is set to become an unrestricted free agent after this season.

The 49ers don’t have many proven players on the depth chart to replace Moseley, although that could change with the return of Pro Bowl Jason Verrett. The veteran is reportedly close to becoming available after being sidelined with an ACL injury for the past year.

Moseley isn’t the only player the 49ers lost during the Panthers’ game. Veteran safety Jimmie Ward suffered a broken hand and is also looking for a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Star pass rusher Nick Bosa is dealing with groin tightness, while kicker Robbie Gould suffered a knee contusion.
