San Francisco 49ers will be without their star pass rusher Nick Bosa, and rookie wideout Brandon Aiyuk for the rest of the training camp as both players are currently dealing with injuries. The news was confirmed on Tuesday by 49ers’ head coach Kyle Shanahan.

According to Shanahan, the duo will be out for at least a week, and their return to practice will depend on their recovery. The team is taking a cautious approach, but the duo is expected to be in-game action for the season opener against Arizona Cardinals.

Bosa is dealing with a muscle strain, which was discovered after an MRI earlier in the week.

“He was about to go out and practice through it because he didn’t think it was much,” said Shanahan. “Fortunately, he got that, and we were able to prevent him from hurting it worse.”

Aiyuk, on the other hand, injured his hamstring.

“Hopefully it’s only one, two weeks,” Shanahan added. “When it is, that will give him time to come back. He can’t check out while he’s rehabbing, which how he is, I’m not worried about that. He’ll stay in it mentally.”

Nick Bosa was a key player for the 49ers last season, winning AP Defensive Rookie of the Year award and finishing the year with 9.0 sacks. He also received a Pro Bowl invite.

Brandon Aiyuk was San Francisco’s 25th overall pick in this year’s draft and is expected to carry a significant load for 49ers on offense in 2020. Aiyuk had 65 receptions for 1,192 yards and eight touchdowns in his sophomore year with Arizona State and has reportedly been impressive so far in the training camp.
