The San Francisco 49ers will have quarterback Josh Rosen and running back Austin Walter back on their roster for the 2021 NFL season. The team announced on Monday that both Rosen and Walter received new one-year deals to stay with the franchise.

Rosen landed with the 49ers late in 2020 after the team experienced multiple issues at the QB position during the regular season. The 23-year-old player didn’t get playing time last year but could get a more expansive role in 2021 if he continues to progress well.

Rosen, who was the No. 10 pick in 2018, suited up for the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins in the past. He is 3-13 as a starter and has thrown for 2,845 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 19 interceptions in his pro career.

Walter, on the other hand, spent most of 2020 on the practice squad. He saw limited action on offense and finished the season with just one rushing attempt. However, the 24-year-old player had 43 snaps on special teams and had five kick returns for 93 yards.

With these new contracts, look for both of these players to come back next season with a desire to prove themselves.
