San Francisco 49ers bad luck in 2020 continued over the weekend as their starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and star tight end George Kittle both suffered serious injuries. The duo was injured during Sunday’s 37-27 loss to Seattle Seahawks.

Reportedly, Garoppolo has a high ankle injury that will sideline him for at least six weeks. The 29-year-old player might be forced to miss even more time if he ends up needing surgery.

Kittle, on the other hand, is dealing with a broken bone in his foot. He is expected to miss eight weeks at best, which probably means that his season is over at this point.

Garoppolo already missed two games earlier in the season, sitting out in Week 3 and Week 4 with a high-ankle sprain. He was replaced by Nick Mullens at the time, and the former Southern Miss product is expected to take over under center again. Veteran C. J. Beathard should serve as Mullens’ backup.

In Kittle’s absence, San Francisco will most likely turn to third-year tight end Ross Dwelley. In eight games in 2020 so far, Dwelley has six receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown.

San Francisco 49ers are currently sitting at the bottom of the NFC West with a 4-4 record. Considering their injury struggles, things could get even worse for the 49ers this week as they are welcoming Green Bay Packers on Thursday.
