Running back Aaron Jones has committed himself to the Green Bay Packers, agreeing on Friday to a salary reduction for the 2023 season in order to remain with the team, his agents Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha confirmed.

Scheduled to make $16 million, Jones agreed to a pay cut that would see him earn $11 million for the coming season, including an $8.52 million signing bonus.

“The way he leads that football team, his consistency, is amazing,” Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said of Jones, adding that he expected to see him remain with the team. “In this league, you can’t have just one [running back]. Obviously, having AJ [Dillon], it’s nice to have that one-two punch. Aaron, when we got first here, you’re thinking, ‘Hey, this probably won’t last long because the way he’s built and his size,’ and he just keeps on defying the odds.”

Last season, Jones was in fine form, posting his third 1,000-yard rushing campaign since 2019. In total, he gained a career-high 1,121 yards while completing seven touchdowns.
