The Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers has finally revealed his plan for the future, and the news is set to make a lot of football fans in New York happy. During his appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Wednesday, Rodgers told host Pat McAfee and the rest of the world that he wants to play for the New York Jets in the 2023 NFL season.

“I made it clear my intention was to play and to play for the New York Jets, and I haven’t been holding anything up,” said Rodgers.

Rodgers explained that he made his decision last Friday and told all the parties involved about it. However, the talks between the Jets and the Packers are still ongoing about the terms of the trade that will land the four-time NFL MVP in New York.

During the interview, Rodgers also said that he went to his infamous “darkness retreat,” which took place in February, thinking that he was 90% percent sure he would retire from professional football. However, after further contemplating his future during four days of “darkness retreat,” he ended up changing his mind.

Several teams reportedly expressed interest in Aaron Rodgers, but the New York Jets made the most convincing pitch. The team’s brass, including owner Woody Johnson and head coach Robert Saleh, visited Rodgers in California last week as part of their efforts to convince him to join the franchise.

If the deal goes over the finishing line, Rodgers will follow the same path as Brett Farve, another legendary Packers’ QB. Farve left the Packers in 2008 to join the Jets, clearing the way for Rodgers to take over as Green Bay’s starter.
