Ajax coach John van ‘t Schip has confirmed that his team is interested in signing Al Ettifaq midfielder Jordan Henderson. This comes amid reports that the former Liverpool captain is unsettled in the Saudi Pro League months after his arrival.

“There is serious talk going on with Henderson,” van ‘t Schip confirmed. “He still has some things to arrange in Saudi Arabia. It could be a nice match. It’s no secret that we could really use that type of player. Other guys can benefit from that.”

Still, there are reports that the Saudi club may be unwilling to let Henderson depart so soon after signing for them. Ajax are ideally looking to bring the midfielder in on a permanent deal, ruling out the option for a loan move. During his 12-year tenure at Liverpool, Henderson won the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
