The Chicago Bears need to win their Week 4 clash against the Detroit Lions if they want to keep realistic chances of making the playoffs this season. But that is easier said than done, especially since the team apparently doesn’t know who will be their starting quarterback for the game.

Speaking with reporters on Monday, the team’s head coach Matt Nagy said that all three signal callers currently on the Bears roster—Week 1 starter Andy Dalton, rookie Justin Fields, and veteran Nick Foles—are currently being considered to be under center against the Lions.

“All three are under consideration right now in regards to where they’re at, so we’ll just kind of have to see in the next couple days where they’re all at,” Nagy told reporters via ESPN. “We know where Nick’s at, health-wise, but we just want to keep an eye on Justin and Andy. Then, for us to stay on that and make sure that we have a plan for any of those.”

Dalton was named the starter for the Bears in training camp but ended up getting hurt in the 20-17 win over Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. He has thrown for 262 yards, one touchdown, and one interception this season.

After Dalton went down, Chicago turned to Fields, their number 11 pick in 2021, who finished the game against the Bengals and started in an embarrassing 26-6 loss to Cleveland Browns in Week 3. The Ohio State product hurt his throwing arm on the final play of the Browns game, and it’s unclear whether he will be ready to play by Sunday. So far in his rookie season, Fields is completing 40 percent of his passes and has thrown for 138 yards and an interception.

Finally, there is Foles, who started for the Bears in 2020. The former Super Bowl MVP is believed to be fully healthy, but Nagy doesn’t have confidence in his as he is currently third on the depth chart.
