The Seattle Seahawks have reunited with their All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner. The future Hall of Famer reportedly inked a one-year, $7 million deal to return to the organization where he started his NFL career.

Last offseason, Wagner left Seattle after 10 years to sign with the Los Angeles Rams. However, he ended up being released by the Rams in March as the franchise embarked on a rebuild, and the veteran still wanted to play meaningful football late in his career.

Wagner was one of the best linebackers in football last season despite losing some of the speed that was his trademark earlier in his career. He ended up playing all 17 games, leading the Rams in tackles with 140, including 10 tackles for loss, while also managing a career-high 6.0 sacks. The 32-year-old added five pass deflections and two interceptions en route to his ninth All-Pro nod.

As soon as Wagner hit the free market, the Seahawks emerged as his strongest suitor. The team expects to be competitive this year and believes having Wagner’s leadership and experience in the locker room will enable a young roster to take a step forward. The player, on the other hand, was also keen on the reunion as he is comfortable in the Seahawks’ system and beloved by fans in Seattle.

In his first stint with the Seahawks, Wagner helped the franchise to win Super Bowl XLVIII and make the Super Bowl XLIX. He is currently the franchise’s all-time leader in tackles while holding several other records.
