All-Star winger Anthony Duclair finally found a team to play for in the 2020-21 NHL season.

The Florida Panthers confirmed on Thursday that they have brought in Duclair on a one-year deal. While the team didn’t reveal the financial terms of the deal, it is believed that the 25-year-old star will earn $1.7 million.

Duclair had a career season last season, playing 66 games with the Ottawa Senators while scoring 23 goals and 17 assists to combine for 40 points. He also earned his first All-Star nod since making his NHL debut in 2014.

After such a productive year, many believed that Anthony Duclair would land a much bigger contract in free agency. And it turns out he could’ve if he wanted to.

Indeed, Duclair reportedly had several offers on the table that were financially more attractive than the Panthers’ one, including a multi-year deal with the Senators with a $3 million annual salary. But he decided to turn all of them down, as he believes another stellar season in Florida could help him land an even richer contract next year.

“Anthony is a dynamic and highly skilled player who is capable of being a dependable offensive contributor for our team,” said Panthers general manager Bill Zito. “He possesses tremendous speed and goal-scoring ability and earned an opportunity to be named an NHL All-Star last season. We’re excited to welcome Anthony and look forward to what he can add to our team.”

So far in his NHL career, Duclair has suited up for the NY Rangers, Arizona Coyotes, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Senators. He’s so far played 353 games in the league and has 162 career points (79 goals and 83 assists).
