Alpha Tauri will enter the 2024 Formula One season with an unchanged driver lineup of Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda. The team made the official announcement on Friday.

Liam Lawson, who served as the team’s reserve driver in 2023, will continue in his role next season as well.

Alpha Tauri entered the 2023 season with Yuki Tsunoda and Nyck de Vries as their main drivers. While Tsunoda had its ups and downs, he still managed to bring some points to the team. De Vries, on the other hand, was the worst driver on the grid and ended up losing his job, failing to get a single point in 10 races.

Shortly after moving on from de Vries, Alpha Tauri turned to Ricciardo and signed him to a contract until the end of the season. The 34-year-old Australian, who served as Red Bull’s third driver earlier in the year, hardly impressed and didn’t record points in his first two races. He is currently out with a broken hand, and it’s unclear when he might return.

While Ricciardo was recovering, Lawson stepped in and actually managed to put together a string of promising performances that included a ninth finish at the Singapore Grand Prix. However, Alpha Tauri executives obviously don’t believe he’s ready to take the full-time job just yet.
