After five seasons with Atlético Madrid, Antoine Griezmann has decided that he will pursue a new opportunity.

The star forward announced in a video published to Twitter on Tuesday that he will move on from his current team this summer in search of a new club and new challenges.

After winning the World Cup in the summer of 2018 with his native France, Griezmann decided to stay with the Colchoneros. There had been rampant speculation that the forward would leave his team and make a move in the last transfer window.

However, the eccentric forward decided to give it another shot with Atlético. After being eliminated in the Round of 16 of the Champions League against Juventus, he decided that it would be better to go compete for titles elsewhere.

Griezmann joined Atlético Madrid in 2014 after spending the first five seasons of his professional career with Real Sociedad. With Atlético, Griezmann scored 94 total goals in 179 games.

He won two Supercopas de España as well as last year’s Europa League Championship. He reached the Champions League Final only once with his team, falling in 2016 to cross-town rivals Real Madrid.

Now, Griezmann will go elsewhere. Speculation has connected the French forward with FC Barcelona, which appears to be the favorite to pay his 120 million euro release clause and to acquire his services.
