Five-time Pro Bowl corner Aqib Talib is ending his football career. According to Talib, he recently rejected the offer to sign with New England Patriots and instead opted to retire.

Talib played five games with Los Angeles Rams in 2019, before landing on Injured Reserve with a rib injury. He was later traded to Miami Dolphins in a salary dump move but failed to suit up for the franchise before his contract expired at the end of the season.

Despite his past injury issues, several NFL teams considered Talib as a legitimate option at the corner position. Still, the 34-year-old veteran decided he had enough covering the wide receivers and tight ends around the field.

“Aqib Talib is officially retired, and I’m bringing my talents to the booth,” said Talib in a video posted on Twitter while also announcing the launch of Call to the Booth podcast.

“I ain’t really in it like that no more,” he added. “I just wasn’t feeling it no more, honestly.”

Aqib Talib put together an impressive NFL career since entering the league as Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ first-round pick in 2008. He especially built a reputation as a ball-hawk, managing to rack up 35 interceptions in the past 12 years, which was most among the active players last season. Talib also converted 10 out of those 35 interceptions into pick-sixes, which ranks fourth all-time.

Besides the Bucs and Rams, Talib also suited up for the Patriots and Denver Broncos over the course of his career. He won a Super Bowl ring with the Broncos while earning collecting five Pro Bowl honors and two All-Pro selections.
