Barcelona and Arsenal are reportedly considering a mutually-benefiting player exchange that would help them part ways with unwanted players. According to Daily Mail, the deal would see Brazilian playmaker Coutinho heading to Premier League while French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi makes way to Camp Nou.

It’s believed that Coutinho doesn’t have a future with Barcelona, considering his disappointing performances in Spain and high salary. The club has been trying to get a suitor for him in the past several months, but haven’t found someone willing to meet their asking price of around $80 million.

Reports from England say that Arsenal, on the other hand, is tired of Guendouzi’s antics and wants to get rid of the 21-year-old player. France international fell out of favor with Mikel Arteta’s side due to his problematic behavior and hasn’t been featured in the match squad for the last seven games.

For the Coutinho-Guendouzi swap to happen, there would have to be some money included in the deal. Arsenal would most likely have to make up for the difference in value between two players and part with around $40 million. Still, that doesn’t sound much for a player that was once considered among the best in the world.

From Barca’s standpoint, parting ways with Coutinho would help them balance books while also getting a player they would actually play. Guendouzi appears to be a great fit for the Spanish club and can rejuvenate their aging midfield.
