As the soccer transfer window heats up, it appears that Arsenal has secured a transfer for one of Spain’s top young midfielders.

According to multiple reports, Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos is currently in London in preparation for a physical and to sign a contract with the Gunners, bringing much-needed midfield help to a team that will look to compete for Champions League positions in the 2019-20 season.

Ceballos will reportedly join the Gunners on loan. It isn’t currently known if the terms of the loan will include a purchase option, or if he’ll simply return to Real Madrid next summer.

The Spanish midfielder is a youth product of Real Betis, the club where he made his senior debut in 2014. Ceballos starred at Betis for 98 games before moving to Spanish giants Real Madrid for a transfer fee of $20 million.

Despite his talent, the box-to-box midfielder has found it difficult to find consistent playing time with Real Madrid, only appearing in 35 matches over the past two seasons. At only 22 years old, it became a priority to move Ceballos to another team where he could gain more experience and playing time.

If the move goes through, Ceballos will have the opportunity to play in the Premier League with Arsenal.
