The Atlanta Braves are headed to the National League Championship Series for the first time since 2001 after sweeping the Florida Marlins in three games.

Game 3 was an easy victory in which the Braves hitters exploding to lead the team to a 7-0 shutout victory.

The Braves have yet to lose in the postseason, beating the Cincinnati Reds in two straight games to win the NL Wild Card series and the Marlins in three straight to win the NL Division Series.

The Braves bats got busy in the third inning, scoring four runs in the inning and adding one in the fourth and two more in the fifth. Travis d’Arnaud’s had a two-run double in the third inning and finished the series with four extra-base hits and seven RBI.

Even though the Braves pitching staff has posted four shutouts in five games, they haven’t really faced great offense teams. That will change in the NL Championship Series, where the Braves will either face the Los Angeles Dodgers or San Diego Padres, both of which have potent offenses.

The Dodgers currently lead the series 2-0. The first game of the NLCS is scheduled for Monday, October 12.
