One of the biggest young stars in the soccer world has a new suitor, and they’re willing to pay big bucks to acquire the 19-year-old Portuguese forward.

Benfica, the Lisbon-based club where João Félix currently plays, confirmed in a press release on Wednesday that they have received a $143 million dollar offer from Spanish club Atlético de Madrid for Félix.

The press release stated that Atlético’s offer did not trigger Félix’s release clause since their payment offer is divided into installments. Were the Spanish club to offer $143 million in a one-time payment to Benfica, the team would be forced to let Félix go.

In any case, Benfica says that they are evaluating the Colchoneros’ offer, and they seem likely to make the decision to let their young star leave for a gargantuan quantity of money.

Félix is considered to be one of the most talented offensive young players on Earth. The Viseu, Portugal native scored 20 goals for Benfica in all competitions and helped lead the Primeira Liga club to the domestic league title as well as the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

His most memorable performance was a hat-trick against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League, which exposed his talents to the top clubs all around Europe.

Only time will tell if Benfica will accept this gargantuan offer for Félix, but it seems more than likely that the young star will head off to Spain for next season.
