Once again Rafael Nadal proved to be the best player ever on clay.
The Spanish legend, won his record 11th title in Monte Carlo Masters after he quickly and efficiently swept Kei Nishikori from Japan 2-0, 6:3,6:2.

It only took one hour and 32 minutes of play to reach here, as we saw yet another dominant performance of the Bull from Manacor.
Nishikori simply didn’t stand a chance, despite leading 2:1 in the first set, and taking Nadal’s serve. At that point, many spectators were surprised, but quickly everything came to its place.
Until the end of the match, Rafa took the rival’s serve four times and recorded his 10th win over this player.
So far, Nadal played 12 championship matches in Monaco, and lost only one, back in 2013 against Novak Djokovic.
He will start the 171st week from the top spot in the ATP rankings this Monday, improving his result.
On the other hand, the Japanese star entered the finals of Monte Carlo Masters for the first time in his career, and became the first overall player from that Asian country to be the finalist here. Monte Carlo tournament is established in 1897. Unfortunately for him and his fans, Nishikori is still without a Masters title after this Sunday.

Real Madrid eliminated Juventus after an incredible rematch of this epic Champions League quarterfinals. Despite being down three goals, Los Blancos advanced to the next stage of the elite European football competition.

The Old Lady neutralized Real’s advantage from the first leg, with a perfect performance in all aspects of the game. In the 60th minute, they leveled the result, but in the end, Cristiano Ronaldo once again emerged as a hero of the reigning European Champions.

He netted from a penalty in the seventh minute of the injury time, after a controversial decision made by Michael Oliver.

In the last seconds of the match, Lucas Vasquez received the ball after Ronaldo’s header in the goalkeeper area. Mehdy Benatia challenged the Spaniard who immediately fell down, as he had been shot down. We have to say that there was contact, but the intensity was questionable for such a decision, especially in that part of the game.

Throughout the whole game, Real’s players were simulating and trying to force Oliver to award them a penalty. In the end, they succeeded in that intention.

During the protests, Juve’s goalkeeper, Buffon pushed the referee and received an automatic red card.

He was replaced by Wojek Sczesny, who couldn’t prevent the Portuguese from scoring.

No more dilemmas about the future Paris Saint Germain coach. The Saints made an agreement with the person who is going to replace Unai Emery this summer. His name is Thomas Tuchel. This news shook the football world today, and it is one of the most important in the last few months.

The German was the biggest contender to take Arsenal and Chelsea, but eventually, he changed his direction and instead of London, finished in Paris.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BhWwlChhxg8/?tagged=tuchel

According to the German media, Tuchel signed a two-year deal, with an option to extend it for one more season.

Tuchel was in charge at Mainz and Borussia Dortmund, where he made good results, and what is even more important, developed into an expert for offensive football. Saints wanted a manager who can exploit the maximum from their attacking mentality, and he was the ultimate choice.

On the other hand, after a two-year stint with PSG, Unai Emery is going to leave the French capital, mainly because of his failure in the Champions League, where he disappointed with his tactics in last year’s elimination against Barcelona, and also recent defeat against Real Madrid.

After Valentino Rossi accused Marc Marquez of a dangerous drive and deliberately crashing into other riders, we didn’t have to wait long to hear the reaction from another side.

The Spanish rider was ”very disappointed” with his colleague. Also, he added that Rossi’s indictments are not true and that he never wanted to endanger anyone on the track.

“In my career I never, never, never go straight to a rider thinking that he will crash. Always I try to avoid,” he said.

The Spaniard explained that his move was a consequence of the track conditions and a huge mistake, adding that Valentino’s remarks are definitely wrong. “Today what happened with Valentino was a mistake, a consequence of the track conditions because I locked the front. But in my career, what he’s saying, I think is wrong.”

Previously, Rossi stated that he is scared when he needs to drive alongside Marquez on the track and that he doesn’t feel safe. Also, the nine-time champion called the officials in Moto GP to punish Marquez.

“This is a very bad situation because he destroyed our sport because he doesn’t have any respect for his rivals, never,” he said.

After the race, Rossi’s friends and team prevented Marquez from entering Yamaha’s camp. The Italian rider himself denied the apology.

This is not the first time that these two have clashed on and off the track. Back in 2015 they also had one incident on the track and eventually, the officials had to intervene and make calm things down.

The quarterfinals of the Champions League continues this Tuesday, and we are going to see two great games, one in Rome and the second in Manchester.

Roma and Manchester City are ahead of mission impossible tomorrow. Both teams have a three-goal deficit, the Italians against Barcelona and Citizens against Liverpool, and it is hard to say which side is in a worse position. Roma lost 4-1 in Spain, while Liverpool demolished City 3-0 at Anfield.

After that game, Guardiola’s boys received another painful blow, in a local derby against United which they lost 2-3, although leading two goals at halftime.

”We are disappointed and sad for losing to United. We have to turn the page quickly as possible because Liverpool awaits us,” said City’s defender Danilo.

Reds are fatal for City this season because they have two wins against one of the most dominant English teams in the last decade.

In the second event of the night, Barcelona is close to reaching their 11th semifinals in the Champions League. If by any chance, Roma eliminates the Spanish powerhouse, it going to be only the fourth time in history that they dropped the lead from the first match.
All the games are starting at 8:45 pm Central European Time.

Thursday night was reserved for Europa League quarterfinals. After the first fixtures, Arsenal players almost secured their progress to the semis, while Atletico Madrid and Lazio have excellent positions before the rematches. It seems as though the only matchup with thrill is going to be the one between RB Leipzig and Olympique Marseille.

Gunners demolished CSKA from Moscow with 4-1 at Emirates. That result was active at the end of the first 45 minutes. It was appearing that the guests are going to be annihilated because Arsenal could have scored at least two more times.

Atletico Madrid routinely defeated Sporting Lisboa with 2-0. The scenario was the same like in London. Two quick goals and the job was done already after the first half.

Lazio had many problems against stubborn RB Salzburg, but in the end, Simone Inzaghi’s team managed to gain a respectable advantage before the rematch, 4-2.

Toughest game of the night was seen in Germany, where RB Leipzig won minimally against Marseille, 1-0. It was an open match with chances on both sides, but the hosts had more luck.

The home ground advantage was crucial tonight since all four hosts recorded wins. Is that going to be the same in seven days time, we are going to know next Thursday night.

After winning the Miami Open title last week, Sloane Stephens decided to skip the tournament in Charleston.

US Open champion and one of the leading US players shocked everyone today, once she announced that she would be forced to withdraw from Volvo Car Open.

According to her statement, she does not have enough energy to compete at the highest level. “My run to the title in Miami left me completely exhausted/fatigued both physically and mentally. I don’t feel prepared to play my best and therefore it’s in my best interest to get some rest.”

Stephens then expressed her hope that she will be able to play in Charleston in future and wished a lot of luck to all other participants.

“Charleston is truly one of the best events on tour,” Stephens said in a statement. “I sincerely look forward to playing [there] again many more times. I wish the best of luck to all the girls.”

This is her second consecutive skipping because she also didn’t participate in the previous campaign because of an injury. The title she won in 2016, couldn’t be defended, and Russian player Daria Kasatkina emerged as the new champion here.

Just to remind you, Sloane Stephens moved up in the WTA Rankings this Monday. After receiving 1000 points for the title in Miami Masters, the 25-year-old surpassed Petra Kvitova, Angelique Kerber, and Daria Kasatkina, and became world no.9.

For the first time in her career, the American found herself among top 10 players, and we are going to see whether she can stay here for a longer period of time. Number one is still Simona Halep from Romania, while Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark occupies the second position.

Boban Marjanovic does it again. The Serbian 7 ft 4 is in the center of media attention once more. Usually, when we speak about Boban, it is not just because of his game, and on various occasions, this giant showed some dancing moves nobody expected to see from him.

Last night he made us wonder if he chose the right profession.
Before the game with Indiana Pacers this Sunday, DeAndre Jordan, Tobias Harris, and Marjanovic had a little show of their own.

Immediately after these three guys heard a song by Drake called “God’s Plan”, they gathered around in the paint and started dancing. And we have to admit, they were good. Real good, because the crowd’s reaction was nothing but positive.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BhC448qnlN1/?tagged=boban

After that session, the guys made a group huddle, between them and they were ready for the game.

Boban didn’t play in this one, but he did have a certain positive influence on the team, because Harris dropped 21 points, while Jordan had 8, but with 12 rebounds.

One shocking news spread trough NHL today. The unstoppable force of Vancouver Canucks, the Sedin brothers, decided to retire after this season.

After 18 memorable years, the twin brothers are going to check out. In the written statement which was published earlier this day on the official website of the Vancouver Canucks, Henrik and Daniel said that they made this decision after consultation with their families.

“We started the year with the mindset that a decision would be made in the postseason. But it became clear, after discussions with our families throughout the year, that this will be our last season. This feels right for all of us.”

Also, they emphasized that 18 years spent with this franchize, were the best ones in their lives.

“Being part of the Canucks family for 18 seasons has been the best period of our lives. ”

Both brothers came to Canucks in 1999. At that time, general manager of the franchize, Brian Burke made a stunning maneuver in order the get these two players together. He traded the No.1 overall pick to Atlanta Thrashers, in order to receive the second pick. Already having number three in the draft, he paired twin brothers and the new era in Vancouver started.

Unfortunately, they never won the Stanley trophy, despite having a chance in 2010/11 season. Boston Bruins were better in the Finals, after a spectacular seven-game series.

Their career in the national team of Sweden had more success, as they won the World Cup in 2013 and golden Olympic medal in 2006.

He became the 50th player in history to receive this awards. Before him, we saw many players getting this title, including Bill Walton, Patrick Ewing, Tim Duncan, Kevin Durant and of course, the greatest of all times, Michael Jordan.

His rivals were Deandre Ayton from Arizona, Devonte Graham from Kansas and Marvin Bagley III from Duke.

“This is a great honor to be among the greats that have won the Naismith Trophy,” said Brunson to Villanova.com. “It’s a credit to my family, which has sacrificed a lot, and my teammates and coaches, who have helped me become the confident player I am. I’m really thankful that I get to do this with a group of guys I love. It’s all a credit to them.”

The New Jersey-born has been outstanding this season averaging 19.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists in 39 games played for his Wildcats. Without a doubt, he has been the leader of this team, which reached the finals of this year’s March Madness. They will be facing Michigan Wolverines this Monday, in Alamodome, and Brunson will be chasing his second NCAA championship because he already has one, won in 2016, when his team defeated North Carolina in one epic match.

He is also a candidate for clinching the fourth Player of the year awards, Wooden trophy. That one is going to be announced on Friday, April the 6th.
