Real Madrid eliminated Juventus after an incredible rematch of this epic Champions League quarterfinals. Despite being down three goals, Los Blancos advanced to the next stage of the elite European football competition.

The Old Lady neutralized Real’s advantage from the first leg, with a perfect performance in all aspects of the game. In the 60th minute, they leveled the result, but in the end, Cristiano Ronaldo once again emerged as a hero of the reigning European Champions.

He netted from a penalty in the seventh minute of the injury time, after a controversial decision made by Michael Oliver.

In the last seconds of the match, Lucas Vasquez received the ball after Ronaldo’s header in the goalkeeper area. Mehdy Benatia challenged the Spaniard who immediately fell down, as he had been shot down. We have to say that there was contact, but the intensity was questionable for such a decision, especially in that part of the game.

Throughout the whole game, Real’s players were simulating and trying to force Oliver to award them a penalty. In the end, they succeeded in that intention.

During the protests, Juve’s goalkeeper, Buffon pushed the referee and received an automatic red card.

He was replaced by Wojek Sczesny, who couldn’t prevent the Portuguese from scoring.
