Barcelona’s reliable midfielder Sergio Busquets has already decided on the next step in his career. According to Spanish media, Busquets intends to make a switch to Major League Soccer in the summer of 2023.

Busquets is currently in the final year of his contract, and Barca, despite all of their financial issues, would like to keep the 34-year-old for at least one more year. However the Spain international team captain wants a new challenge and is reportedly intrigued by the prospect of playing in MLS.

The reports indicate that Busquets also already made up his mind on his new destination and will sign with the Inter Miami CF. If this turns out to be true, he will join a colony of high-profile names that includes Gonzalo Higuaín and Kieran Gibbs.

Sergio Busquets spent his entire professional career with Barcelona and has been one of the club’s most important players during his time there. He helped the club win 30 trophies, including eight La Liga titles and three UEFA Champions League trophies. Busquets made a total of 685 appearances in Barca’s jersey and is third on the club’s all-time list.

Busquets was also successful with Spain’s national team, being part of the squads that won the FIFA World Cup in 2010 and the European Championship in 2012. He has 137 appearances on the international stage.
