Exciting transfer news is coming again from the European soccer scene and this time it’s a confirmation of something that was speculated for a long period of time. At the end of June, there was information that Antoine Griezmann was going to leave Atletico Madrid and join Barcelona, but the Spanish club denied those rumors. Following a long and tiring process of negotiation, Barcelona finally confirmed signing the star player.

To acquire him, Barcelona paid the large sum on his contract’s release clause, which cost them around $135.4 million. The 28-year-old Griezmann reportedly signed a deal that will keep him in Barcelona for the next five years, and this deal will include an unbelievable release clause of over $900 million.

One of the biggest difficulties of the negotiation process was the arrangement for the release clause for the young Frenchman. Atletico originally pushed for 225 million but then lowered it to 135 million in the beginning of July, which eventually led to the successful signing. The extraordinary sum will make this transfer one of the topmost expensive ones of this summer. Barcelona welcomed Griezmann saying that this will get him another step further in his career.
