A summer full of changes has been the top story for FC Barcelona lately with the arrival of players such as Antoine Griezmann and Frenkie de Jong. Now, it appears that one Barcelona piece is on his way out.

With an official announcement still pending, it appears that Barça has sold right-winger Malcom for around $45 million with more money to possibly be made from add-ons.

The Brazilian right winger’s time at the Camp Nou was short, departing after only one season wearing the red and blue. Malcom was purchased by Barcelona from Bordeaux last summer for $46 million and they apparently decided that he just didn’t have a future with the club.

Financially, Barcelona is expected to come out even or make a slight profit on Malcom’s sale to the Russian club.

Malcom found it difficult to carve out a spot in coach Ernesto Valverde’s Barcelona in the 2018-19 season. He appeared in only 15 of the 38 La Liga games, scoring 1 goal and recording 2 assists. He finished his Barcelona career with 24 games played and 4 goals, the most now memorable of which was a final minute Group Stage goal in last year’s Champions League match at Inter Milan, which sealed a 1-1 draw for the Culés.

Now, Malcom appears to be on the move to Zenit, where he’ll have the option of being the team’s top star.
