Bayern Munich is on the verge to sign Espanyol’s best player, the 22-year-old Spanish midfielder Marc Roca, just hours after they sold Renato Sanches to Lille. Roca has a release cost of $40 million, which Bayern are willing to pay before Real Madrid and Inter. Marco is set to sign a 5-year contract after this week.

Roca has passed all youth categories in Espanyol, starting in 2008 when he was just 11 years old. On August 26th, 2015, Roca made his first-team appearance in front of the home crowd against Malaga CF. Shortly after, he was given a new contract until 2022 after he was promoted to the first squad in the 2017-18 season.

Marc has also made 1 appearance for the Catalonia National Team, starting in a 2-2 draw against Tunisia. He was scouted by Inter Milan as well as Real Madrid last season, but Bayern had biggest ambitions in signing him, although Espanyol stated that they won’t sell him. Bayern is willing to pay $40 million which will activate his buy-out option and he is expected to be promoted next week.

In Bayern, Roca will have a tough battle for the starting line-up with Thiago Alcantara, Javi Martinez and Leon Goretzka.
