Following some poor performances in recent months, Bayern Munich’s front office is preparing a big spending spree in the summer to bring back the club to the European elite. And while Bayern is gearing up to pursue some of soccer’s biggest stars, Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo won’t be among them, despite rumors.

During a recent appearance on fan club meeting, Bayern’s president Herbert Hainer was asked about the possibility of landing Ronaldo and openly rejected this scenario.

“Many names are linked with us by the media,” aid Hainer via Passauer Neue Presse. “Cristiano should be a bit too old for us.”

Haine, however, confirmed that the club is still intending to pursue German star winger Leroy Sane of Manchester City. Bayern engaged in serious talks with City over the player towards in the summer, but Sane suffered a right knee injury which ended up stalling the transfer.

While Hainer obviously wants a youth revolution in Munich, not wanting Cristiano Ronaldo seems foolish. While it’s true Ronaldo isn’t getting any younger, his game is still on the top level. The 35-year-old Portuguese scored 20 goals in 20 Seria A games this season while adding three goals in other competitions.
