Chicago Bears’ outside linebacker Khalil Mack is considered one of most feared pass-rushers in today’s game and a potential Hall of Famer. But, that is not quite enough for the 28-year-old. The thing that Mack aims for is being the “best to play the game.”
“I want to be the best to play the game,” – Mack told reporters during Chicago’s OTAs. “I mean, you got L.T. [Lawrence Taylor]. You got Derrick Thomas. You got special, special guys that have played this position, and that’s all you can do, is kind of chase.”
Mack comes off an impressive 2018 season in which he played 14 games with the Bears and had 47 tackles, 12.5 sacks, one interception, and one touchdown. This earned him First-Team All-Pro honor and Pro Bowl appearance. Still, he thinks he can do even better in 2019.
“I don’t [do] too much talking,” – he added. “I let my play do that for me. The expectations is to be a lot better than last year, for sure.”
Khalil Mack spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Oakland Raiders but ended up being traded to Chicago Bears after unsuccessful contract negotiations. Bears didn’t have trouble paying Mack big bucks and ended up giving him a six-year deal worth $141 million with $90 million guaranteed. This made Mack the highest paid defensive player in NFL history.
