The Chicago Bears will trade their number one overall draft pick for the 2023 draft to the Carolina Panthers in what will be a bulk package deal, sources reported to ESPN on Friday. In exchange for the number one draft pick, the Bears will receive four other draft picks and wide receiver DJ Moore.

Chicago will receive Carolina’s first-round selection at No. 9, the number 61 second-round pick, a 2024 first-round pick, and a 2025 second-round selection.

Since last week’s scouting combine, an array of NFL teams have expressed an interest in reaching a deal with the Bears to get their hands on this season’s number-one draft pick. While the Houston Texans were vocal about their intent, it was the Panthers who made the first move, reaching out to the Bears during the combine in order to find out about the chances of a trade.

According to one source, the Panthers were eager to secure the prime draft pick after identifying two quarterbacks whom they wanted to get their hands on.
