Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Jonah Williams has confirmed his desire to be traded, a source confirmed on Friday. The longest-serving member of the Bengals’ current offensive line, Williams had been the team’s first-choice left tackle since being drafted in 2019.

Recently, Williams lost his guaranteed starting position as the Bengals went on to sign four-time Pro Bowl tackle Orlando Brown Jr. earlier in the week. Brown, who was signed on a four-year, $64 million deal including a $31 million signing bonus, seems set to challenge Williams for his starting spot, especially given the funds that were spent on the player. Offensive line coach Frank Pollack confirmed this belief, telling reporters that Brown would play at the left tackle position.

Pollack revealed that he has spoken with Williams regarding his future on the team, however, he refused to give specifics. “I hope we get to coach him,” Pollack commented. “He’s a good football player. He’s got a bright future. Hopefully it’s still here with the Bengals in 2023.”

Should Williams remain with the Bengals, he may also look to challenge for the right tackle position. Following the injury of La’el Collins, the Bengals signed Cody Ford on a one-year deal.
