Cincinnati Bengals recently received some really bad news that might have a big impact on their roster for the next season. Their rookie offensive tackle Jonah Williams, whom they selected 11th overall in this year’s draft, will most likely miss the entire 2019.

Bengals confirmed on Tuesday that Williams underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. Despite the bad news, the 21-year-old is expected to make a full recovery.

“We look forward to Jonah being a major contributor in the future, and know that he won’t let this injury deter him from still being an important part of this team,” – said Bengals’ head coach Zac Taylor in a statement. “We’re confident in our offensive line personnel as we head into training camp, and we believe they can do their part in helping this team achieve its goals.”

Jonah Williams played three years of college football with Alabama Crimson Tide, managing to win several individual and team honors with the program during that time. Williams entered the 2019 NFL Draft as arguably the best offensive lineman in his class and was widely projected as a top-eight pick.

Due to the fact that teams drafting ahead of Cincinnati had other needs, Williams fell down to number 11 allowing the Bengals to fill an OT position that was problematic for the team ever since Andrew Whitworth left the organization two years ago.
